Trying to make a decision about this pile of coins

29 posts in this topic

Please help me out here...

I have a pile of modern Commemorative coins from 1983 Olympics to 2012 Infantry Soldier Silver Dollar, in MS and Proofs.

I am thinking about sending them all in the NGC for grading.

I want to get this mess organized!

What say you?

I think you should send those infantry coins to some old 11B's that hang around here........but what do I know, seriously though, you can prob pick up some graded ones just as cheap on some of them and save yourself the hassle, seems like the 69's go reasonably, but unless you know you have 70's it may be a waste of your precious coin

I say you'd be wasting your money unless they all got 70UCAM.

Chris

Exactly what I was going to say. These are common, and don't garner any premium unless they are 70's. Save you money. If you want to sell them, they are just as easy to sell in their OGP.

Save your money and keep them raw. The packaging can be kept in a box and the coins put in a safe or a safe deposit box in order to save room. If this does not work then I suggest selling them on the BST or to a local dealer.

Put them on the Money Marketplace if you don't want them.

What he said, there a plenty of modern collectors here and you can save some of that nasty eBay/PP fees. If you sell to all one person you save on shipping as well.

Option 1 - Put them back in the safe and for-ged-a-bout-it

Option 2 - Slab em and forget em (hope i get a UCAM70 or two)

Option 3 - Sell them to Mark :applause:

Chris, I must take issue with that.

As long as I didn't have to pay a shipping fee, I would be happy - well, not really happy - to pay a bit back of face.

I can't tell exactly what you have there - if no gold then still a couple hundred dollars worth -

Do you collect them and want in slabs?

Original Government packaging is worth as much as most 69's

If you submit, you need some 70's to make it positive expectation

If it were me, and I did not want to convert to cash for other purchases, I would get a USPS flat rate medium shipping box - cram them all in - tape it up and put away in closet or with Christmas ornaments - and leave them for 10 years or so - maybe start giving as presents to kids/grandkids...

But wouldn't you have to change the name of your website to Mark Feld Rare Coins And Sometimes Others?
