That was a day when Bethesda was really a suburb! Today, it's a traffic nightmare!

 

Adjusted for inflation that $89.13 is equivalent to $864.03 today. I am willing to bet that not only it would cost more than $864.03 today, but you and your mom would spend only 3 days in the hospital!

My son was born at Suburban in 1972, and if my memory serves me correctly, the bill was about $1,400.

That was a pretty cool contest. Thanks Chris!

 

My first son was born with a broken nose, and on his second day of life the "nose doctor" stopped by, popped it back into place and left us a bill for $1000.

 

It took him two minutes. I briefly considered a career change.
