The coolest 'coin ring' ever.......

9 posts in this topic

Hi Folks,

I picked this guy up the other day and thought that it has to be about as neat as they come. It's a 1921 Morgan, as you can see. The outside is nicely engraved all around with stars. It's a giant ring, size 13......Neat huh ?

I've never seen anything like that. Cool. Must be a heavy sucker, or has some of the sliver been removed?

They get pounded in for the ring part and then the center is cut out. It probably comprises 55 or 60% of a silver dollar.

I've been wanting to make one of those things. The Morgan look awesome. I have some low grade/low value Morgans but I sure hate to ruin it. I may try one, one day.

Thanks for the link, Scott. I thought that was how it was done, but I've never seen it explained. I know what I'm going to be doing some rainy soon! :)
