So, 2 quick questions, answers posted later today. These come from last month's bulletin of my local coin club.

First, what single item of legal tender currently being produced for circulation in the US features portraits of two US presidents?

Second, what was the first silver coin produced by the US without a lettered or reeded edge?

Which two presidents are on the Lincoln cent?

1 - $2 is the only one currently being produced.

2 - I would have said the silver center cent.

Lincoln, and uh... Lincoln. One on the obverse, and one on the reverse.

He didn't say two different presidents :)

See? Lincoln on the obverse (obviously), and he's sitting in the Lincoln Memorial on the reverse. I'm not crazy! :insane:

Clever, although I would say the cent has two portraits of one president, not portraits of two presidents.

For #1 you folks are correct on the $2 bill (although I think Chad should get some bonus points). Jefferson and Adams are both on the reverse.

For #2, the first 1836 Gobrecht dollars were produced with a plain edge.

It looks more like a statue than a portrait.

At least one example of the 1792 silver cent has a plain edge, which predates the Gobrecht dollar by at least 44 years and was produced by the US. hm

I didn't realize there was any such thing as a silver cent. Do you have any info on it, Tom?
