You posters need to resist the temptation

29 posts in this topic

to respond to those who post messages aimed at inciting trouble - they don't deserve your time

to post messages about those who post only to get attention - you only give them what they want

to call posters names - it simply adds fuel to the fire

to give attention to those who don't deserve it - it takes away from worthwhile discussions

If someone (and that includes me!) posts a message here and you think it is spam, pointless, aimed at causing trouble or just plain stupid, ignore it and it will end. Respond, and it will continue. I know that the temptation to reply is great, but the reward for resisting that temptation is even greater - trust me on this!

Please note, I practice what I preach or I wouldn't be asking it of you.

I agee also but is easier said than done sometimes. If a person is able to keep posting immaterial information, spam, sarcasm in others threads, and it isn't rebuted, it will only get worse in my opinion. The disruptive person, I feel, should be brought to the Mods attention so that they can see there is a problem and remove it before it causes the loss of good members. Also, I feel that alot of us are friends, and it gets aggravating sometimes to see an individual try to degrade another member that we know are of much higher caliber. Jmo

No offense but thats the reason why I like this board and will not post at PCGS... there are no clicks and members ganging up on other members based on a perceived pecking order...

Ive been posting here since 2002... What does that mean ? Absolutely nothing...

Like Mark said resist the temptation.

I agree 100% Mark.

People like Noow have just as much right to be here as anybody else. I find him annoying and his posts distracting but just like in real life you have to deal with people like that and many who consistently replied to his posts became just as much, if not more annoying and distracting.

All the "mods notified" reminded me of my 4 and 6 year olds saying "im tellin' dad" whaaaaa!!! I think many of them think or wish they were mods themselves.

It ain't much different than a company. You have one bad apple and it will eventually infest itself into other employees and cause bad moral until it is eliminated. Also, the right to be here, I dont think is true. This forum is owned by NGC and they give you permission to be here and you can stay as long as you abide by the rules. As you can tell, this place is definately not run with an iron rod as is ats which what makes this forum much better in my opinion. There are still rules!

Just to clarify I didnt say he had a right to be here, just that he has as much right as anybody else to be here.

I am not sure. Here's a paragraph from the terms of use:

a) provide any Content or perform any conduct that may be unlawful, illegal, threatening, harmful, abusive, harassing, stalking, tortuous, defamatory, libelous, vulgar, obscene, offensive, objectionable, pornographic, designed to or does interfere or interrupt this web site or any service provided, infected with a virus or other destructive or deleterious programming routine, give rise to civil or criminal liability, or which may violate an applicable local, national or international law;

He has broken many of these rules. Not to mention providing false information that may be harmful to new collectors. This place is like a community. Many here look out for others. BTW, I have never hit the notify button in the 7 years I have been here.

Nevertheless, many replies to this poster have been just as much in violation of a), so it seems perhaps what Mark is saying in the original post above is good advice.

Best, HT

Nah, comic I hope Noow comes back and learns a lesson, tones it down some, and folks cut him a little slack and don't go after him so much, and perhaps we are all a touch more tolerant, ain't noow one perfect and some of you have seen I can go bad and violate a) and get under the skin of some (my bad.....). So I refer to Mark's advice again, a sound sage is he. When you meet posters in person as I had the fortune to do at FUN, you realize weeze all good folks after all so here's wishing the best to Noow and everyone else. :)

I was willing to give noow a second chance after his strike was up, and he behaved for about 5 hours, but he quickly went back to the old antics. I have zero tolerance for that. If I'm out of line, call me out on it. I'm not sorry for the way I have treated him. I'm only sorry its lasted this long.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again - if you are here to talk coins and do it nicely and want to learn and teach and share, welcome to the forums. If you are here to troll and spam, I will do everything in my power to vote you off the island. Some may respect that, some will not.

Do you want my opinion? The word "tortious" is spelled incorrectly.

I'm with Mark. If someone is getting under your skin, just ignore them.

But he doesn't have the right to defame other members or attack those who (had previously) not said anything negative towards him. I strongly suspect that those taking up for him were unaware of one of his tortious posts that disappeared with a couple of hours late one night on the forums. I will not restate or dredge up more controversy, but he outright stated that a member was untrustworthy when he later provided his only proof - a statement that Noow construed as rude. Even if a statement is rude, this doesn't make a member dishonest or a liar and it was clear to anyone with a scintilla of logical reasoning that there was nothing dishonest apparent about the statement. Once Noow began this, all bets were off as far as I was (and am) concerned. While ignoring people is often useful and sometimes they will go away, the individual in question proves that there is an exception to every rule.

I wonder if the misspelling of tortious is the result of an auto-correct feature. I find that Microsoft Word is notorious for autocorrecting certain words like this.

Ha Ha, Im as slow as the day is long, I thought Mark recently posted this, not over 9 years ago. lol.

Our friend has decided not to stand idle during his suspension, he has logged in and posted ATS.

That should be interesting, we're a tolerant bunch.
