  1. Anyone able to tell me the physical size of the GSA holders? Thanks
  2. If in Louisville, Kentucky, I highly recommend going to the Louisville Slugger baseball bat factory! Always open for tours. It's a part of history even if you aren't a baseball fan!
  3. I believe ANACS will research and attribute varieties if the submitter does not know. The charge used to be like $12.00 if I rrecall.
  4. Based on my prime target of what I prefer to collect, I have never found a dealer who carries the inventory I collect. Based on that, I rely mostly on auctions or Ebay with very good results.
  5. This may not be the proper place to post this, so if offended I apologize! Joe has been photographing some of my coins in the past week and his talent is amazing! His patience with me and dedication to his craft are beyond reproach! If you need some coins photographed, I highly recommend my new friend Mr. Joe!!!
  6. Again. Amazing on the criticism around here. I think it is a great find and if you like it, then AWESOME! For what you spent, if given the opportunity, I would have snatched them up as well. Hell, that could have been a McDonalds meal!
  7. I think the bottom line in all of this is NGC should recognize a customer who has a lost shipment issue and needs help. They should be bending over backwards to help out because NGC specifies that Fedex is the only service they will use to ship. I have no idea why they would institute such a policy unless they get a discount on the shipping fees, thus making money by using one shipping service. The company I retired from outside of Philadelphia got shipping and freight discounts on anything coming in or going out, including Fedxex. They should allow the customer to pick whichever shipping service one prefers. After all, the customer IS the one paying for the shipping. Their policy essentially says if a return shipment gets lost, the customer is on his own. This is a horrible policy period. I for one will not submit anymore coins to NGC until this is corrected. Granted I am not a major customer, but I have always been loyal to NGC on all coins for TGP.
  8. I have bought and sold through Ebay for many years and have never personally had an issue when buying. I do have my own rules that I always adhere to in order to make sure everything is on the up and up as much as possible. I only buy and sell certified coins. I look at the feedback and am leery of anyone selling with a feedback rating of less than 98%. If less than 98% I specifically the negative and neutral feedback to see what issues were encountered. I also check if returns are allowed. I prefer a seller who offers returns, but that really is not a deal breaker. I do verify cert numbers through whatever TPG service certified the coin. Last but not least, I pay for everything through Paypal because of their guarantee. Happy hunting and stay smart!
  9. Nice coin. $250. including shipping Paypal F & F only.
  10. Be careful. Once upon a time there was a disme!
  11. I think you have a DDO there but minor. What I think is impressive though is the coin looks to have full steps. I like the coin, really sharp and nice pick up!
  12. I got the 1950-D Jefferson Nickel in today that came from the Appalachain Hoard. I am actually pleasantly surprised by the toning! The obverse is mostly covered in ice blue and almost a rose blush color. There is a small area that shows some golden hues near the rim at the 7:00 area. The reverse shows considerably more of the rose blush are than the blue. I personally find the coin to be very appealing! Included are my attempt at pictures which really don't do the coin justice. The obverse is closer to the real appearance but not the reverse. Maybe I can someone that takes good pics and and get some taken.
  13. In the rare event that a return shipment cannot be located, please contact NGC Customer Service at Service@NGCcoin.com or 800-NGC-COIN (642-2646). To make a claim, FedEx will require your tracking/PRO number and completion of the online claim form. Then follow the rest of the easy 5-step process. Based on this from the NGC site, the onus seems to be on the customer.
  14. So the nickel I found arrived today and I have attached my attempt at pictures showing the colors. In hand no doubt this one was from the hoard! Probably from the second group as it has the mesh pattern on the reverse.
  15. Yes they did. But some still exist and once in a while they do come up for sale. I think the initial group of nickels submitted were never confirmed to be AT. There were lots of people on both sides of the fence.
  16. When did NGC switch to Fedex? Mine are always sent via registered mail through the post office. Only recourse would be to file a claim with Fedex?
  17. Anyone have a 1950-D from the Appalachian Hoard they can post or know what the toning looks like?
  18. The Appalachian Hoard also included the 1950-D? I was not aware of that!
  19. Looking through some war nickels on ebay the other day and low and behold this one popped up. Based on the certification, it appears to be from the Appalachian Hoard. Pictures of the coin are terrible. Cannot wait to see in hand!
  20. Just curious how many have a custom set. I just completed one on some of my toned coins. If anyone cares to take a look see and offer some comments or advise by all means feel free to do so. Collection Manager (collectors-society.com)
  21. Watch crossing the bridge from Louisville on I-65 into Jeffersonville as that is pretty damn crazy with traffic, especially trucks Calms down about 20 miles north of the river.
  22. I have a set of supposed submission numbers for this hoard. I do not recall where I got them and they may or may not be correct. I have 291239, 291240, 291279, 271281, 207335 and 207281. Based on the dash numbers, I have seen coins that are as high as 046 against one submission number. I am also not sure if it was ever determined how many submitters there may have been.
