Ok so its not all doom and gloom..
The population for this coin is..
    86 total
    80 MS69
    2 MS70
Here is the 2nd ! MINE !! now leading the Gilt set with 3/5 70's and feeling good ! When done I will get these a 5 coin presentation box for sure.. and really good photos!
    http://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/CertResults.aspx?CertNumber=2756291-009
The other could even be a mistake. Someone has one in his Gilt Kooka set and he says its not gilt its a plain Kooka !! So is the 2nd coin really out there ?? did I just get a pop 1 of 85 !?
2005 Gilt is pop 1, mine
I need 2007, so far pop 0. Back to buying more of those I think.
Here is the link for population of all Gilt Kookaburras 2004-2008

    Well new camera arrived
In Auto mode, under the same light.. without a tripod, so exact same conditions as the camera before..
Here is the same coin, I spent the same minimal time and tried to have the light the same too.. and just a few snaps.. picked the best, cropped, resize to 600 on the long side and here you go..
A lot of improvement I think, and I can do MUCH better ! so with a tripod and 2 lights, and lots of practice, I should be set..

    Yes, I got one..
Well, my $1 error signature set is going to have something special in it soon (I think). Wasn't sure if I would ever get one of these..
I have asked NGC if they will designate mule for my latest aquisition
A mule is defined as a coin struck with dies not intended to be paired together
Australia's 2005 proof set contained a proof $1 with the "dancing man" reverse
The 2006 set contains the traditional "mob of roos". No 2005 proof $1 "mob of roos" was ever struck in 2005. Not until 2006..
A picture says a thousand words..

I bought a new camera (Canon SX100 IS)
While I don't have it yet, I will have it by this time next week
So I've been playing with lights and my phone camera. I just updated most of my Australia's Sovereign type set with new images. It will be fun to do them all again once I work out the new camera, and get the lights just right.. some are still quite bad images and the scans were better.
I am also updating my Kookaburra set with images, and more
Let me know what you think ! here is my 1895 Sydney sov which is satiny
I like the results already.. I left two with scans.. horrible and washed out aren't they.. can't wait to see what this marvel of a new camera can do

So, a couple of MS70, cool ! set now added, another 1400 points for me.. and rank 3. Equal top if I add MS69 coins, top if I add one more 70..
Next batch is sent, and includes some interesting stuff I already posted about.. and a 2001 and 2003 to complete my set ! both those looked great under halogen so CMON 70's !! that would be great and put me #1 for Kangaroos..

Decepticoin ! so.. will these sellout and how fast? these certainly seem like a hot item to me. Both the Perth mint and Downies have placed order limits
I just love it.. was a huge huge fan as a kid.. loved both movies
The evil Megatron is my favourite of the 2 coins. The boxes for these are like an action figure, check the forums under World coins I started a topic
Also had to get one of these.. well TWO !! if you didn't know, I am a huge Formula 1 fan, and even own a signed Michael Schumacher helmet, quite a rare one. And some more stuff..
F2008 depicted (should have won the championship) and a sliver of real Ferrari carbon fiber included ? how could I pass it up..

    It's been a while..
Recently I sent a bunch of Kangaroos, 26 to be precise.. these were not inspected for grade. Pot luck for those.. will post results when I get them ~ a week
More are being sent soon, just finished printing the invoices
    Invoice 1
    1 AUSTRALIA 1999 P100 SG$100 PF CENTENARY SOVEREIGN
    1 AUSTRALIA 2009 P G$25 PF SOVEREIGN
    1 AUSTRALIA 2001 S$1 MS ABORIGINAL KANGAROO
    1 AUSTRALIA 2003 S$1 MS ABORIGINAL KANGAROO
    1 CHINA 2009 S10Y MS PANDA
Instructions : If coin 1 needs a bath at NCS for fingerprint removal, do it.
Sad but true. Some odd toning on the obverse there. It's for a friend anyway so I'll see what they can do.
Yes I bought a Panda gorgeous coin.
    Invoice 2
    Multi holder
    1 AUSTRALIA 2006 P GILT S$1 PF ELIZABETH II
    1 AUSTRALIA 2006 P GILT S$1 PF MACARTHUR & FARRER
    1 AUSTRALIA 2006 P GILT S$1 PF BANKS & CHISHOLM
    1 AUSTRALIA 2006 P GILT S$1 PF GREENWAY & LAWSON
    1 AUSTRALIA 2006 P GILT S$1 PF KINGSFORD SMITH & HARGRAVE
Instructions.. reverses up, title FIGURES OF NOTE GOLD PLATED SET
This set is my new signature set, and is all about the people who were on Australia's first paper notes, the $1 $2 $5 $10 and $20 our first decimal notes. 40 years later the Perth mint created sets of 5 colour silver proof coins.. gold plated were limited to 1000 each and sold individually at the ANDA coin fairs around the country..

    I can see 3 journals !
Sorry Gotta Have It. I'm afraid you'll have to go on ignore so I can see meaningful journals. You mean well, but it won't work. I certainly don't want to see the same post over and over and I doubt others would either ? this is not the place for that.
Even if everyone here who reads journals did it, it wouldn't make a dent on the money supply. Even if everyone told 50 people. It would take a massive massive effort.
The fed will release the coins when they are good and ready anyway.. horde some when they come out, until then relax ?

I also just bought a halogen lamp
I was tossing up between 35 and 50W halogen and went for 50 I will also be getting a standard desk lamp of 100W.
I am pretty sure the Braille's will do well however. 5 more Lincolns were included so hopefully I will have a 70 with both label types when I am done
Can anyone recommend a quality 5x lens I can buy ? its time to get a new one.. ok DONE ! thanks to Gary I am now set

The Braille dollar is so far difficult in PF70UC
Anyone who has purchased the Braille proof, check them carefully. PF70UC is a possible big money coin. One just went on ebay for $243 USD or around 6 times mint price
I recommend buying a few from the mint, I will buy some more. We have a seemingly perfect coin with tiny flaws which could be on most coins.. if those without the flaws do turn out to be very rare, you want to find the good ones at mint price yourself ! good luck !
I am placing another order ! the flaws in both mine are on the reverse, one on the blind child's hand, at base of forefinger, and a couple in the bookcase. The bookcase could be the more important area with lots of detail seen..

Not as many Lincoln 70's as I wanted !
I guess someone out there will be happy to buy them around mint price.. I only ended up with 9 of 25. So 16 PF69 UC with the special brown label (thanks NGC!! at least they were nice enough to do that, I did send in a nice lot). All these 69's and possibly some 70's will be on the money marketplace via Coindude at some point soon, and the remainder will be put on eBay if not sold
None of the 4 silver proof eagles made 70 so will part with them too. The Bald Eagle $5 also made 69.. disappointing, should have returned it when it arrived with the capsule open ! in future I will not hesitate to return items. It too will be sold at mint price, along with two 2008 1/10th PF eagles (one slabbed, PF69 UC)
At least the Jackson's Liberty I was dead right. This was a real obvious stunner, even without magnification I thought wow! I bought 3 coins and this was by far the best, I even returned one. Some things are just meant to be.. they didn't use prongs, THANKYOU SO MUCH NGC. Prongs on just one of my 8 spouses would look a little silly.. time to get the 9th now ! Anna Harrison

OH and poor results on Kookas, Koalas and Gilt Koalas. MS70 of the Gilt Koala must be pretty hard to get. If you can buy one for $99 or perhaps a little more, go for it.
ONE good bit of news though.. 2004 Gilt Kookaburra MS70 ! leaves me only 2 to go.. and in top position already. I will finish this set! (NO 2007 Gilt Kooka has received MS70 yet!)

    47 coins total !
My big box is almost ready to come back. I have posted a few times. You all know what I want. This week has been incredibly hard waiting for these grades. I hope it doesn't ship NEXT week
NGC should really consider allowing viewing of coin grades at the QC stage. ** or red text could indicate the grade is subject to passing Quality Control. I would love to know if they have any statistics on how many coins actually leave QC and go back to the grading room. It must be very low, or graders would be getting the can..
I think we would all be a lot saner and appreciate it beyond words to know much sooner that we were right about our grades, or, we were wrong. Please consider it NGC ! they would only be interim grades and we could still hold our breath for them to pass.. but 99% of the time they will pass?

Just added yesterday and today, with pics too !
    2009 P Louis Braille PF70UC
    2006 P Ben Franklin Founding Father PF70UC
    2004 Kookaburra MS70
Seeking about half the MS70 kookaburras still, let me know if you have em !
I also sent off the next 15 coins to NGC ! 10 of the coin below, I am expecting mostly 70, and 5 more Lincoln PF's !
Here's the Braille reverse I spoke of ! crisp design right through the bookcase, and on the boys hand..

  14. RareSov
    Thanks US Mint !
As promised, I went straight to the bookcase on each coin, and found them to be just like the obverse ! the rest of the coins also looks good
My luck is in.. I think I will get EIGHT PF70 Braille's. I am sending all 10 of them for grading ASAP!
One has an obvious speck on the boys finger, another could possibly have one too, hard to tell in the capsule. The rest look absolutely spot on, from fresh dies !
    Feeling very lucky...

New pop numbers are out !
    Braille PF
    PF68 6
    PF69 2177
    PF70 205
Wow ! from one in 5 back out to more than one in 10 !
I get 10 of these coins tomorrow, already praying hard that bookshelf is spotless on all of them.. these coins are a hot item in PF70 ! I had a feeling..
  16. RareSov
    I had to get one..
Apparently this will be an annual issue as well. Why will I buy them ? low enough mintage of 2500..
On the negative side they are costly, about the same gold markup as UK mint gold.. their 12500 etc sell out, so 2500 ?
The 2005 Perth Mint sov with book had a mintage of 7500 and sold out. Lower price helped a lot, this issue is very popular. I have four of the "first 1000 struck" with books and felt bags

I broke down and bought 10 Braille PF so I can inspect them for 70's.. these are going for plenty more than the Lincoln PF's !

I also just purchased a 2009P Braille PF70UC thanks to the pointer by another member. Thankyou !!
A couple of days ago, I bit the bullet. 2008 and 2009 Kookaburras MS70 for my sets !! I had no luck with my submissions so why submit more and more.. I eliminated 2 more slots
My other sets will get a big boost if my predictions on the submissions are correct. LOTS of 70 on the US coins. At least some expected on the Aussie coins. I wait in hope..
  20. RareSov
So far we are seeing a lot more 69's !
    PF69 284
    PF70 47
As you can see, over 6 times as many have graded 69. I will be cherrypicking ASAP, going to order another 10 of these shortly
    UPDATE !!
I purchased one of these thanks to the pointer by another member. Its great someone will help you out without even asking. Thanks again
