Yeah, it's an image of the statue of freedom that sits on top of the Capitol building. heh. Liberty is a woman and Freedom is a guy. Who knew? (We'll I think the statue is supposed to be a guy)

Well, these are some of my latest. The gold coin I bought to celebrate turning 21 on the (19th) and the commem is the first of what I hope will be several modern silver commem proof dollars. I think the commem dollars are some of the best coins to come out of the US Mint in the last 20 years.

(BTW, let me know what you think of the pics since this is one of the first times I've tried to photograph as opposed to scanning the coins.)

Hey saen, do you prefer the Mint States or the Proofs? I like the modern commems and I'm hoping to start building a set but I'm generally finding the proofs to be more appealing.

(I'll be posting 1 or 2 of my newer purchases in a day or two hopefully).

I just managed to win 2 MS66FT 1955-D Roosevelt Dimes. One is for my 20th century type set the other is for my step father's birthday present since he was born in that year.

Can anyone tell me what the FT designation means and what the trend value for these is? Numismedia doesn't seem to list a value and I want to get a feel for how well I did (or didn't) pricewise.

I continue my single-minded pursuit of coins for my Lincoln cent set. I have 4 more coins on the way (no pics but sellers pics); a 1955-P, 1955-D, and 1956-P in NGC MS 66 RD and a 1983-D in NGC MS 67 RD. 1955 and 1956 are the birthyears of my mother and stepfather and those coins complete those 2 years for me. 1983 is my sister's birthyear. I'm still working on a 1983-P as well as 1981 and 1986 for my older brother and I. I hope to eventually have a full certified lincoln cent set but I give priority to birth years.

I posted in another Forum.I collect Silver Eagles.I recently became a paid member.I have 1986-2007 W in both Mint State and Proof.The MS collectionis graded and a mixture of MS69 and MS70.The proofs are in raw state.I also have an album with raw bullion.I decided to use my free voucher and sent in 5 of the latter to test my Grading.Four came back with a grade of MS62-MS68.

 

I received them in the mail today.

 

The fifth one came back as a 1987 Silver Eagle as an OBV Struck Thru MS69 Mint Error..

 

I have not heard of any errors on a Silver Eagle.. Anybody have any comments on this coin?

I'd sure like to see a picture of the strike thru.

Personally I'm wondering what an MS69 Error coin could potentially be worth.

Reminds me of this beauty I found once, only it's a 1910. Mine I honestly think is a case of silver-plating though. Yours... I'm not so sure on.

I just picked this up for my ever expanding late wheat cent set. Ebay item #300143347298. I have one of the seller's (4) pictures below. It should be a nice additon though I ended the day kinda disappointed. It was only 1 of 4 or 5 cents I was hoping to get today and I got beaten out on all the others. I also decided to order a 2003 P&D cent set in MS 68 for what I feel was a good price.

Well I just got this 1930 Lincoln cent in today. It's MS66RD, and I know there are some on the boards that don't think much of lincolns but I saw this thing online about 10 days ago and a little voice and the back of my head just started saying MINE! I also picked up a 1993-D in MS67RD for about the price of certification from the same seller. I needed it to help build on my cents set and it's the birthyear for my younger step-brother.

Thanks, guys. It was the "free coin plus $4.95 shipping" deal from www.ahs.com you see in the paper sometimes. I thought for five bucks, I can't go wrong. I was quite pleased when it actually came.

I did the same for a Morgan just the other day, ordered the "free coin" and turned down everything else. I doubt that I'll have anything that nice though when it comes in 4-6 weeks. I just figured that for 4.95 how can you go wrong with a coin with $9+ in silver. I'm also going to be taking advantage of this deal for 2 Walking Liberty Halves, "Free + 2.95 S&H." Again, not bad for $9 worth of silver, even if the coins they send me end up looking terrible.

There's always lots of cool Morgans here and crito's early commem was definitely awesome.

I agree that is a nice Ike there. It appears to have a nice golden hue. I wouldn’t dismiss it for a coin a grade or two higher - JMHO.

It does indeed have a nice golden hue. I'm used to pictures and lighting conditions lieing to me though so I wasn't going to count that in the coin's favor until I saw the coin itself (I was using the seller's image). That coloring does give it a kinda unique look for an Ike though the light has to hit it just right before it'll pop out at you.

My most recent at the moment is this 1976. I haven't even gotten it in the mail yet but it should be here in another day or so. I could have gone for a slightly better grade but I got a nice deal on the coin and I was after it for a type coin, not to be an ultra-nice coin for a some major set I'm building. If I ever decide to seriously build an Ike set I'll probably replace it with a MS 65/66.
