This coin is my step-father's but I was with him through all the discussion and the purchase and it's going into my registry with the rest of the certified coins the family has.
This coin is the first pre-1933 gold in the family collection so let me know what you think.
Edited to add:
It's slabbed as an NGC MS63.

Ok, rather than Boiler's gasp-inducing awe-inspiring posts, I offer some more standard material. These NEWPs bring my Presidential dollars set up to date until the Jackson coins come out in a few months. With these, the Washington upgrades and the Quincy Adams coins, my Prez bucks set is back in a big way.
-
I'll join in complimenting Boiler's set.

(for right now anyway).
That's why I'm hunting for them now. I paid just over $20 a piece for my JQAs and I'm trying to get the MS66FDs for Monroe for less than $35 a piece. Those are a little harder to get those since there's only about 250 of them.
-
Where would you recommend? My main experience dealing with buying stuff on the net and not at shows or dealers is eBay.
eBay is where I shop for them. Like I said, you can get the PF69s (if that's what you want) for about $40 as a set. (Last I checked) the PF70s went for about $200 a set. The 2 coins that Bobby just picked up can be bought as a set for about $40-$50 (or less if you get lucky).
-
Are those NGC Slabbed presidents hard to get? I would at least the 8 proofs graded PF 70. I didn't get into the novelty at first, but now I m on the band wagon.
As with everything the grade is important. I'm collecting the Proofs in PF69UC since they're generally available for $10 a coin and I don't want to pay for PF70s which are still pretty common but go in the $50+ range. The business strike coins are easily found in MS65. They can be found at pretty low prices for MS66. They get really expensive and rare at MS67.

Those are nice Bobby. I just won my set a few days ago (as I posted) but I haven't received them (yet). You decided to start going for MS66s too eh?

That 1922-D Peace could put somebody's eye out and that 1884 is snazzy. (thumbs u
I just got lucky on another upgrade. I don't have the budget for MS67s, but a few more of these MS66s and I'll have a pretty nice set. I picked up another 2007-D Washington on the cheap with this P, but that is going to be for immediate re-sale to my step-father.

I LOVE the dollars I'm seeing from everyone and I have to say that that is an awesome looking war nickel Harv! That for a type set?
-
Well, this time it's not a lincoln cent. You're all gasping, I'm sure. I just won this MS66 First Day of Issue Washington dollar as an upgrade to my business strike presidential dollars set. It'll replace the MS65FD and make my set just a bit more competitive. (thumbs u I'm working on some MS66 First Day Monroe and John Q. Adams coins to bring my set back up to date (haven't bought any Prez dollars since December).

WOW! I missed that one by drwstr123 earlier. That's great!
I just picked this up in one of Dwaine's eBay auctions. It's the first time I've seen one end for a price I considered reasonable... I seem to remember saying that I was done with Lincolns for a while. I wonder what happened to that thought... Ah well, it was a nice dream.
-
Thanks Harvey. I don't think many people realize how difficult it is to find attractively toned modern coins. I have no idea what the price guide is on this coin as I didn't even look, but I think I paid $50 for this one.
I think those are generally available for $20 or less if you're just getting a 2000-D MS65 Sac.
-
Harvey I get the impression that you want a complete set of proof dimes...

I just won auctions for 2 more lincoln cents. A 1937-D MS66RD and a 1927-P MS64RB. I won both of them uncontested. No one else bid. The 1937-D is the same grade I've been after all along, should be a good coin, the 1927-P is way lower than I'd normally go for but it's the oldest cent I've gotten so far and it only cost me about $20.... I don't know, it's only the 2nd EARLY wheat I've been able to get. the pictures are horrible, I guess I'll decide if it was a good idea when it gets here.
I actually think the pictures contributed to no one else bidding....

I can hardly believe it. After months of hunting, opportunities coming up when I wasn't in a position to buy and losses at the last minute I finally just won auctions for not 1 but BOTH of these steelies. This will bring to a close my current push for lincolns. I have obtained a 1939-S MS66RD, 1957-P MS66RD, 1943-P MS67, 1943-D MS67, and a 1987-D MS67RD. The seller of the 1943-P offered lots of good detail images but I think these "slab shots" get the point across.

That's a good one, SteveInNebr. Let the lincolns flow!

Very nice additions there Rev, Elbasaar, & Lee!
Thanks, Bobby. I'm trying to build up my certified cents set some to make it a little more impressive and take advantage of the summer slow season before the cents (possibly) go nuts in 2009.
-
THIS one is for me. I just won it off Telecoin for about the cost of certification. .... I just realized that the description said "D" and the pic is a "P." mess... now I have to go ask questions again....
Edited to add: It's a "D," the picture is actually wrong. I'll post a picture of the coin he sends.

Great Buff Lee
Nice Cent's Revenant
Great looking Barbers Elbesaar
Here is a new one for me sellers pic's PCGS MS-66
Harvey, I'm jealous. I've been hunting a nice MS66/67 Steel cent for a while with no luck (but I have a few prospects coming up ). I'll have to try and post better pictures of that batch and the 1939-S I got a GREAT deal on once I have them in hand.

I won this lot of 4 Lincoln wheat cents in MS66RD last night. It contains a 55-S, 55-D, 56-D, and 57-(P). Only the 57 is meant for me. The 2 55s are for my step-father and the 56-D will be resold for whatever. I placed my bid only considering what I wanted the other 3 coins for so the 56 is just cake.
Nice coins from everyone I see.

Rev Nice QTR.. You building a set?
I'm building a set of statehoods (slowly) and I'm helping my stepfather build several mint sets for family birthyears. I find the coins and buy them. He reimburses me for them and then they're his. I add them to my registry since I'm basically the family registry member and it's fun to see how what we're building compairs to other sets. That quarter belongs to the 1955 mint set I'm helping him build (with that quarter we'll be in the top 5 soon). I'm not -currently- building a set of the older Washingtons. However, because one of the sets I'm helping him build is a 1932, by the time we're done we're going to have some VERY nice Washingtons (I want to buy MS63s or MS64s for the 1932-D and the 1932-S, expensive yes, but oh so cool).

I realize this is like following up the Man-o-War with a tugboat, but I just won the auction for these. This'll bring my Prez dollar set up to a pretty respectable level, I think.
