  1. Are you wanting to know if we like it or if we think it's AT?

I like the coin very pretty but it's strange to see 30's Proof Lincoln Cent toning on a Business strike...would have to see a better image to give a better assessment 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

What about a wayte raymond board Shane?

I can't tell from the image....I just know I typically see the reds and blue mixed together like that on the late 30's proofs................I have no clue as to wheter the toning is legit...all I can say is the I can't see enough to call at AT or NT but I can see it getting in that holder as it's not neon anything.....so there is every reason to believe it looks fine in hand.

  2. If you want the best photos with lots of detail then you need a camera with Macro. It looks like you are getting pretty close to the slab and while they are a little out of focus I don't think the images look bad at all. One of the things most of us try to avoid though is getting the camera or our hand reflected on the coin we are imaging which seems to be the case in both of your photos. It can be tricky expecially when dealing with the Mirrors of a proof coin but it's worth the practice as it makes for a better overall image. thumbsup2.gif

  3. Do you have macro on the camera? Dimes are tough becuase they are so small so what I typically do is adjust the settings so that the image is rahter large.....at least 1 to 2 MBs each and then when I crop etc that image is still rather large and you can still see all of the fine details on the coin. With Morgans etc this isn't necessary....

I personally never shoot under natural light but some folks swear by it so you just have to find the sweet spot with regards to what works for you....

  4. Bag toning all the way. It would appear that the coin sat at the side of the bag with another coin covering all but the right side of the obverse so after what one can only assume was many decades....the very vibrant rainbow toning formed. Then at some point the bag was moved or shifted and presumably the entire Obverse was then positioned against the side of the bag which is why we see the textile across the cheek and left side field.

If the coin had been allowed to sit in the bag longer......I am sure the textile toning would have been quite spectacular but alas someone threw a monkey wrench in mother natures handy work sorry.gif
