  1. Hi folks, I have another modified penny to ask about. This is from my Granddad’s collection and he was a Mason. Does anyone know of other examples of this? My preliminary search didn’t show anything…Maybe someone can suggest a search term for me? Is this a type of award/token/prize given at meetings (or something similar)? Or maybe this was created by a Masonic artist who just really loves freemasonry? How in the world did they create a raised impression without marking the back? Or is that why the triangle shaped piece is missing? Is Masonic (or insert other club/fraternity/team here) a sub-category of penny collecting? Is this worth anything above face value? (I’m not selling any of his coins. I’m just curious. His collection is priceless to me.) Thank you in advance! You all were so helpful with my last question!
  2. Interesting! So my granddad collected pennies from roughly 1930-1980. Would those dates help determine which method was used? And if it is mercury, would it been dangerous to touch? That reminds me of another question: is there arsenic in copper pennies? Thanks in advance!
  3. Hi folks, I am new to collecting pennies (well, not really because I've been throwing my pre-1983s into jars for years. What I mean is, I'm new to intentionally collecting pennies) and this one from my granddad's penny book which he labeled "Errors". Can anyone tell me why this 1957D Lincoln cent is silver colored? If there is a history lesson involving this type of coin, I'd love to hear it. Thanks for any and all info.
