  1. Oh and here is some of my more modern (relatively speaking) gold coinage.
  2. Thanks! I agree it’s a beautiful design! Whats really funny is 2 months after I won the auction for it I got an offer of $2,400 via Heritage Auctions “Make an Offer” feature. So now I think of $1,500 as a great price for it xD
  3. Thanks! I just started collecting ancients last year. Before that I collected pre-WW2 American. This is my favorite silver American coin in my collection:
  4. Here is another one of my favorite silver coins. An Athenian tetradrachm from the late 5th century BC. This coin is special to me because it was the first ancient coin that I ever spent “big money” ($1,500) on. I was super nervous to do it but now I’m glad I did.
  5. Here is my favorite. It’s a silver quadrigatus from the Roman Republic. This coin was the predecessor to the very well known denarius that was minted for centuries. Livy referred to these coins as “heavy denarii” but modern numismatists believe they were an entirely different type of coin most likely based on the Greek didrachm (2 drachma) coin.
