  2. There are multiple things that threw up flags in my head while looking at this picture, but I’m no master I can’t make a definitive statement either way. What do you vets think? Thanks for your feedback ahead of time! Hopefully I am just paranoid and this coin is fine and ready for purchase (the seller’s being super pushy and impatient) 😵‍💫
  3. Reviewing it, Im not confident it is correct anymore, but man! Wildwinds seems to have every coin minted under Probus except for this one 😂😂😂 My eyes must be selectively seeing
  4. I was curious as to what this coin even is, answer anyone? Like I said, I’m an ancients guy & know next to nothing about currency post 1700s
  5. This is what I found on wildwinds. I’m really hoping im right and getting better at this thanks in advance! Probus AE Antoninianus. Siscia mint, 279 AD. IMP C PROBVS P F AVG, radiate bust left, in imperial mantle and holding sceptre / VIRTVS PROBI AVG, Mars walking right, carrying spear and trophy, V right. Mintmark XXI. Cohen 886.
  6. Thanks for the replies guys. I’m probably not going to make any kind of deal for it, was just curious. This is not my coin, hands, or photos
  7. its obviously not a fair trade so I wont be moving ahead. they deserve more than just my alexander
  8. Hi guys, so I am thinking of making a trade of a Celtic Alexander Drachm for An American shield coin, problem is I know next to nothing about american currency. Is this a fair trade?
  9. Wow thank you @Oldhoopster just goes to show I still have much to learn. I did not think it was even roman lol! and I was even more off thinking I new forsure that it wasn't constantinian coinage! I'm almost positive the latter picture is the coin I have, the reverse is extremely degraded but in certain lighting it certainly looks like the coin you posted. Thanks again!
  10. Here’s a photo of the reverse in different lighting to help make out detail
  11. This came in a lot of Constantinian era coins, but this one is clearly not in that group of coinage. I'm not sure if this coin is Roman, medieval, or something I'm not thinking of, but I can't find anything to help me attribute it. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Coaticus
  12. wuuuttttt So anybody got any real information on the Hellenistic coin or the Constantine or just jokes lmao? I should probably just try image search and wildwinds and see if I can figure it myself, I have been since I first joined. Making more and more identifications. It's been a blast learning and learning @Mowhawk any idea about my OP coins & pictures?
  13. My friend sent me these from his collection and im very curious as to the what the correct identification is
  14. Thanks guys! I was on the fence if it was maximinian or maxentius just goes to show I still have much to learn while trying to identify. I appreciate the help & replies! I think this is the first coin of a tertarch I have
  15. I’ve been trying to figure out what the obverse legend is and for the life of me even with my zoomed loupes I can’t seem to make out who this coin is attributed to.. is there anybody that may know or will help identifying? Thanks in advance this is probably really obvious and i’m just a numb skull
  16. Hey Tom, thanks for the extra website!! and no worries about your knowledge, what you're into is what you're into! I'm kinda starting to wish I was only interested in one subset of the ancient world like you, unfortunately I love it all!
  17. @JKK would you be willing to help me with this? I can send pictures of all the coins and front and back and their weight, but as for diameter I can't measure anything until I'm able to get a caliper Mohawk told me about unfortunately, and while I'm on the topic of help, if the diameter is the most important part and we can't do much until measurement, instead of the Constantinian coins could we work together on some other ancient coins I have, non roman? No worries if not! I understand people have their own stuff going on so if not I totally understand
  18. I have around 25 constantinian era coins in my collection and am looking for some help. I currently don't have eric or aorta and all the online resources I've gone through haven’t helped much. I’ve (maybe) attributed about two coins in this part of my collection. If you’re interested in helping let me know in the comments, if you're not interested, or you just wanna make some rant about my post being stupid wrong etc. move along this thread is not for you. I was told in this lot id be receiving a mixed bag of coins ranging from 80 BC - 1453 AD and were picked at random with each order. Clearly that seller lied as they are all easily recognizable as constantinian with my very limited ancient numismatic knowledge. Any tips, help offered, ideas etc. would be super appreciated more than you could ever know! Edit: if someone out there is willling to help with THIS MANY coins, we'd probably be better off communicating via email or something, Like I said, lmk in the comments!
