  1. It is time to thin the herd and tighten up my collection. I quit trying to stay caught up on these a few years ago so it is time to move them on. I would like to sell the entire set complete through 2011. NGC values the collection at $1483 but I would be happy to sell for $850 delivered. Unfortunately it is a mix of pcgs and ngc coins so not all will be eligible for the registry here or ATS.  here is a link to check it out.  https://coins.www.collectors-society.com/registry/coins/SetListing.aspx?PeopleSetID=122958&Ranking=all

  2. I recently submitted a group of coins for grading. One of them was a 1916 s eagle. It was returned as not genuine with no explanation. In comparing it with others both in hand and in books I can see no clue/hint as to why it received this no grade. Why can't a simple explanation be included with coins such as this? The local dealer had no idea either why it would not grade. His scale weighed it as 16 grams. Is it within the tolerance spectrum for these coins? Does that mean it is counterfeit or?????  I am truly puzzled by this turn of events. Any help is gratefully accepted.

  3. As I am downsizing my coin collection I have run across some hard times and civil war tokens. They sparked my interest and seem to be a low cost way to keep my hand in the collecting game. The history behind the tokens is fascinating. Prices are hard to find and seem to be all over the place. Anyone willing to share information or their experience in this area would certainly be appreciated by me. I have several reference books but they aren't current or well organized.

  4. A different sort of kudos. About 6 weeks ago I pm'ed Broadstruck inquiring about reference books about HTT and CWT. He answered with his recommendations and I was on my way. The book he highly recommended is both scarce and expensive so I kind of kept an eye out for it. Last week, I received a pm with a link for the book on ebay as a BIN. I immediately jumped on it and will be able to work with my small collection as a result. A big shout out and thank you to Frank for keeping my list on his radar and following through on it when he got a hit. I really appreciate your efforts on my behalf Frank and wanted to share my good fortune with the rest of the folks here. Thank you again.
