  1. Thank you @KarenHolcomb, I wish I had 1/4 the knowledge that some of the others have.  My collect is modern coinage although I do save some of the early 1900s when I find them. I don't look for mint mistakes but I do a a few just because I found them. This last year has been by far the best year for my collection. Added some 2019 W Quarters, was lucky and got the Reverse Enhanced s Silver Eagle, and got the 2008/2007back Silver eagle. I love to collect coins and learn so much from the people here. I would down load some pics but the pics I have are to big and I have to have some one send one of their kids over to show me how to down size them.

  2. I started my collection by getting all the proof and mint sets of my life time. Now that has been expanded to include all the silver proof sets and silver eagles along with a few circulated coins going into books.  I learn more everyday and the people help a lot in my undwestanding of coins.  By the way your dinner looks great too.

I have a nice NIKON camera and macro lens with self focus. Download the pics and then I can crop and magnify the pics to see every aspect of the coin.

I rarely pull out the computer microscope.

Thank you Six Mile Rick.  I never even thought of this, guess I an not only old, going blind, but dumb too. LOL I have a real nice canon camera that I take Pics of all my coins with, (for the insurance man). Now I know why I ask so many ?s. hell you just save me a few hundred dollars. (more coins right)

  4. Looking for some advice; I want to buy myself a scope to hook up to my computer so I can see my coins better and maybe take some nice pics. My eye site is not so good, even with a magnifying glass I have a hard time seeing details.  Something easy to hook up and not outrages in price, Any help would be nice. Thank you in advance for your help.

Even if they were regular bank wrapped rolls you are losing nothing if you buy them at face value and put them up. It's not a bad idea to have a part of your collection in some very liquid assets, plus when it comes time to buy a coin you really want you will be ahead of the game.

That is kind of my thinking, I can always get my $10 a roll and maybe my LCD might give me a little more if I am buying some coins off him. Nothing to lose an they might be nice to pass a long.  who knows what they could be worth in 50 years, LOL

One are they really Mint rolls, or are they just bank rolls.  If they are Mint rools the fact that someone paid about $18 apiece for them and today you can buy them for $10 should tell you something.  If they are bank rolls the fact that almost ten years after the series ended you can get them for face value says something as well.

Thank you Conder101, I am sort of new to collecting.  I did it with my dad as a kid and now do it for something to pass forward some day. I have never sold a coin but have been very lucky in some things this year. 3 of the W Quarters and the S enhanced reverse silver eagle.  I take advice and like  they say read a lot.  I don't spend much on anything as I am old and retired but the lady's at my bank always try to save things for me. That is where the rolls of state quarters come from. I think they are mint rolls from what I read.

    Rummy13,

Thank you for your feedback. I bought this coin for my 10 year old daughter. We both just started and she loves collecting with me. Collecting coins is something that we can spend quality time together. I plan on holding on to it until she is old enough to make a decision on what to do with it.

That is great. I was about that old when my dad use to have the kids,(there was 5 of us) go though coins with him.  Now I am 60+ years old and do the same thing with my nieces and nephews.  It has made a 3 generation coin collection. It may not be any thing great but I can bet there is no other collection made with as much love and fun,

I’m new to coin collecting as well and I also purchased this coin directly from the Mint. What would be the best route for me to take to have it graded? I want to do whatever is best. Thanks!

Congratulation on being lucky enough to get the coin.  If you are starting a coin collection you may have one of the best starter coins for under $75 that someone could get. I would not tell you to or not to get a coin graded. What I would say is that getting it graded can help keep it in the condition you got it in. If you look about 10% of the coins have been sent in for grading at this time.  I personally sent mine in for grading, it may be the best coin in my little collection. I plan to pass my collection down when that time comes so I want things to be in as good of condition as when I got them.

  9. I don't know if this is even the right place to ask and or say this: How is it that real small collectors can't get a coin from the mint, yet I set the TV coin guys have a 1000of them, (PF70 from a second rate grading company), for sale?  I know I am new to coin collecting (8 years on my own, 50years watching dad) compared to some of you. Don't you think this hurts the world of collecting when everyone is not playing on a even field? I will not even get into their over pricing and misleading talks. Don't get me wrong, I believe in free enterprise.  But give everyone a chance and the value of coins would go up too.  I buy coins for myself, not to flip. I do buy things like mint sets and proof sets as gifts for some of my nieces and nephews, hoping they too will collet coins someday.  Two or three time this year  have seen coin sale out at the mint, but the TV coin shows have 100s or 1000s of the will sale you for an inflated price.

  10. Let all of us know when NGC lets you know that your coin is "received". That way everyone who is waiting will have some kind of a time line to look at.  It really dose not matter to me because the coin is for my own personal collection, but some people got the as gifts and would like them before Christmas.

  11. Well It arrived at last.  The shipping from the US mint was really slow on this coin.  I have a small time coin collection, that 2019 has been very good to. (I found a W Quarter that graded MS67 with a star) and I was lucky enough to get one of the ERP s Silver Eagles.  I know I am going to keep it, (unless someone wants to pay $25,000).  So the debate was to get it graded or not? After hours of reading and going to my local coin dealers, I am sending it in. wish me luck.

  12. I too was lucky enough to get one of the S Enhanced Silver Eagles and was thinking of sending it in to get graded. I am Just a little Joe coin collector and learning.  What I have noticed is that about 80 to 85% of the W Enhanced Silver Eagles are coming back with a 70. They are going for around $150. I see the S going for much more then that even ungraded. If you got your to resale them you should  get graded and hope it is a 70. If you got it for your collection (like I Did) then rejoice and keep it in it OGP,  Some day if they go like the 95W maybe I will chane my mind.  But this is just my thinking.

  13. I sent some coins in to get graded. They were delivered 4 days ago according yo the US post office, but the submission tracker is not showing them. How long dose it take for my tracker to show it?  The question I had is how often dose the coin census online get updated?   Thanks

  14. First let me say,I am new to collecting and getting coins graded. I see where NGC is going to do a special label and designation exclusively for 2019 Apollo 11-themed coins received during the anniversary of the historic moon mission.
I Had bought the Silver and clad coins, and now am wondering should I get them certified? and if so should I sent the Government packages or Just the coins?

    Thanks for your help
