Greenstang got a reaction from Greenland in 1984 D penny error or die "fill"?
Looks like a combination of a plating bubble and zinc rot. Spend it while you can.
-
Greenstang got a reaction from Greenland in since there isn't a 1940 Roosevelt Dime. what is this??
I agree, that's all that it could be.
-

Greenstang got a reaction from Crawtomatic in selling 1983 roll of quarters on ebay, no pic
You didn't say if they were circulated or uncirculated but if they were circulated, then you did good. It would have taken a long time to sell them one at a time so it was best to sell them in a roll.

Greenstang got a reaction from Matt G in Missing pictures
Hey,
You would probably get a better response if you put this post on the " Ask NGC/NGS" Forum. Those are the people who can help you.

Greenstang got a reaction from Johnny Reed Collection in Every New Collector Should Read This
Good article Kurt, now we have to see how many "newbies" read it before posting one of their rare errors.

Greenstang got a reaction from l.cutler in Just a question?
What has a 1973 Memorial cent got to do with a 1943 Wheatie? I'm confused as to what you are asking.

Greenstang got a reaction from Greenland in 1983 Quarter Error Offset?
And you never stop learning. I read the posts on 2 or 3 different coin forums every day and can always learn something from one of them.
What you have to realize is that an error can only occur during the actual striking of the coin so anytime you see a coin with scratches, gouges, distorted letters, off colour, extreme wear etc., these have probably happened after the coin was struck so it would be classed as damage, not an error.
Here are a couple of websites that may help you distinquish between an error or damage.

Greenstang got a reaction from Greenland in 1982D small date ??
This probably one of the most asked questions on any Forum. Everyone is looking for the extremely rare 1982 copper Small Date D cent of which there are only 2 or 3 known to exist.
The following photo may help you in distinguishing between the two.
There are 3 basic differences in the date.
1- The top of the 8 on the Small Date is smaller than the bottom. (Looks like a snowman) On a Large Date it is closer to the same size.
2- The two on a Small Date has a slight curve near the bottom. On a Large Date it is straight.
3- This is what I go by for an instant recognition of the differences without having to look to closely. On a Small Date, the 2 is farther from the rim than on a Large Date.

Greenstang got a reaction from Matt_dac in 1969s ddo penny terrible example
No harm done. It's not a DDO and it's so badly corroded you couldn't do any more damage to it by cleaning it.

Greenstang got a reaction from Johnny Reed Collection in 1834 lg 8 lg St med lt VERIETY with ruggid clip Cornett 1c
If you are referring to a " Ragged Clip", then I think that coin is PMD. There is no sign of the blakesly effect which should be prominent on a coin with that much missing on 1 side.

Greenstang got a reaction from coinwhat in Chinese ebay sellers with 1000's of sales and 100% feedback?
Agree with everything Just Bob says down to hating counterfeiters. I read on another forum that there are an estimated 2000 sellers from China selling counterfeit coins. Many have been removed from eBay but they just start up again under a different name. That being said, there is one legitimate seller from China that sells many certified coins from NGC PCGS. I forget his name but if I saw his link, I would recognize it. Perhaps this is who you are referring to.

Greenstang got a reaction from Greenland in question on toning on these quarter.
The reason is the environment. There is no way a quarter can get toned during the minting process.

Greenstang got a reaction from Greenland in hi, I have a 1983, can any tell me if this is a dd or not?
Doesn't really matter if it is MD or DDD, there is no premium for either. It is definitely not a DD though.

No.

Greenstang got a reaction from Greenland in please tell me what grade this nickel. it has a strange mint mark
MMS stands for Mint Mark Style. That is the style of "S" used that year. It has nothing to do with a Variety or rarity.

Greenstang got a reaction from Greenland in 1982 small date D copper penny?
It has to look like the top picture and be made of copper.
