  1. I believe it to be the height of chutzpah (buoyed by not a little bit of entitlement burnished by long-term membership) to post a non-numismatic topic [rather shabbily] entitled, "Outta Here." You may recall I, as well as the website coordinator, urged you to avail yourself of the "ignore" function, which you adamantly refused to do. Now a comment I directed to a non-member, via a reply to your post alluding to another member, has ruffled the feathers of all. If you wish to communicate your displeasure, please do so on the OFF-TOPIC thread, or PM me. By emergency consensus, I am withdrawing two posts, made in harmless jest, immediately. I request those who've prematurely fled the premises, to re-consider their positions and continue to provide the membership with invaluable postings in furtherance of the hobby's body of knowledge.
  2. Off-tangential query: To your knowledge, has any mint worker, here or overseas suffered from the effects of being subjected to the harmful effects of dust, vapors and fumes discharged in poorly-vetilated furnace areas? Do workers today wear protective masks?
  3. Not sure which one that might have been but both Registry Sets, here and "over there" are complete. The resumption of upgrading is Ricky's call to make.
  4. To my knowledge, I am not missing any F20FGRs [I know this is a trick post; I know I've been punked by an able successor to Ashton Kutcher, but I've tread thru all applicable threads. I have searched for "missing rooster"... Nothing.] Perhaps if you would direct me to the pertinent post.
  5. Me thinks someone ought to write a definitive guide to proper coin polishing technique. Seriously, I like the coin and love [what I call] the exquisite time-lapse photography, which could not have been easy to do. As to the proper grade... tho I may lack the necessary grading skills----and mindful assignment of a formal grade is pending, I would be comfortable in stating it's all going to come down to the wear observable on E PLURIBUS UNUM, the left wing and clouds on the reverse. All the denticles appear to be intact, the date has fine definition, and the edge is remarkably undamaged. Overall a great piece!
  6. Troo dat! The one digital clock I have also must be manually adjusted, ONLY forward. It's only a problem with analogs and, quite frankly, I enjoy labor-intensive activity like manual typewriters----and before my time, turning that large crank i/f/o the automobile.
  7. @bstrauss3: Many thanks for taking the time and trouble to look into this for me. While vaguely aware "terms and conditions" apply and a submission form is a "legal contract," Iike most collectors (I presume) I skip the fine print and keep my fingers crossed hoping for the best. [I also do not insure submissions as I do not want to draw attention to the package as reflected in the higher cost. On returns, I have no choice.] An ANACS submission form nearly 50 years old would, in and of itself, be a historical artifact with collector value.
  8. Who needs a mere pfenning when you can go for a gold KONINGRUK!
  9. To echo the on-site reporter from the Rosemont coin show: This is ME!
  10. Sorry, Mark, I promised to stay off this thread but this comment cannot go unchallenged. I do not for one minute believe this extreme measure is a viable option for those who wish to "test their grading skills...." Don't look to me to restore your credibility!
  11. Thing is, the gentleman already "knows" what he's got----and deftly moves to "price" mode. If you know what you have, submit it, and come back [on the appropriate thread] to talk price. Postings such as this----counting chickens before the eggs have hatched----traditionally result in great disappointment.
  12. That might be it.(Now that the cat's out of the bag, I might as well cheat and look it up... oops, bedtime, the wife, my Powerball dream, pffft! Ah well, tomorrow's another day. Gotta turn the clocks back...)
  13. Q.A.: Let's see... I come up with 33.3333333333 "pounds" of precious metal. GF1969: Yeah, but Why? Q.A.: Ya got me! (Maybe it's time we went metric.) GF1969: Thanks. You've been, er, very helpful.
  14. I have no idea what the WSJ says. Back to the Times... An "alternative asset class" and I quote, is "an investment that isn't in stocks or bonds." (The term arose in an article devoted to the divestment of Kanye West's sneakers, shoes, etc., from various name brands he had formerly been under contract with.)
  15. My all-time favorite? If memory serves (not sure it's a commemorative; don't want to cheat and look it up) it's the one with the prospector panning for gold.
