  1. Even though I'm somewhat of a label enabler I'm not a fan of more labels, although I do see the attraction of them. A hand signed label/s probably makes the most sense to acquire, as opposed to a meaningless designation. To Big Time, I'm thinking the Charlie Sheen autographed Two and a Half Men commemorative coin series is more likely. Do you have the Picard coin? If so I sense a convention in your future. Glad you're able to combine two things you enjoy into a single collecting interest. That's awesome!
  2. If you have a specific cert# and look it up in Verify NGC Certification it will give you a count for the label. Example 4259512-235 PF70 https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/4259512-235/70/ The count for the Shatner labels is not visible if you are searching the census for some reason.
  3. Interesting, a search by label function could be a good idea. Especially it they keep churning them out. I remember this label, I thought it was a special label for MCM (I think GovMint and LPM are affiliated with MCM), I can remember at least 4 coins this label was used on. I can't find that label in the census, but if you search a cert #, with that label, on NGC Verify it will pull up the population for that coin/label, click on the population and it takes you to the census but the Shatner label is not displayed. The Trouble with Tuvalu? Being an IOM collector one of my favorites was always The Gamesters of Triskelion. Don't know but why take the chance, wait to get or get a signed 70.
  4. Some nice notes, the 35's are not in great condition (there are No Motto and With Motto versions if you care to research it) the 57's look to be in better condition (I like the 777 plate # on the bottom one) and the $2's are nice. Some very nice gifts. I would put them all in holders and hang on to them.
  5. Ha, I think you're right. I need to brush up on my McConaughey factoids.
  6. Could be the pictures but it doesn't look right to me, in any case I don't think any TPG will touch this coin. Best case it will be returned to you as a "No Decision". There are top notch experts here that will chime in. Hope I'm wrong, good luck! From the Ira & Larry Goldberg 2010 auction. https://www.goldbergcoins.com/m/lot-details/index/catalog/3/lot/10563/
  7. Maybe or the way it was packaged was flawed. You'll find out in a few years. Gotta be big time for bulk submissions, if you plan on sending in a dozen or so coins you'd just use the regular submission form. They don't have to be the same coin when submitting like that but they do all need to be in the same grading tier, otherwise you'll need a separate form for each tier. Just let us know when you're ready we'll help you out.
  8. I agree with treating the SMS coins like proofs in that if they are a 70 they have full steps. Sorry HH kind of stepping on your thread here.
  9. If I was to speculate that is why, in part, the PCGS coins (with FS) seem to sell for more. Even more than PCGS MS70 SMS without FS. LABELS!
  10. Is the FS on PCGS holders Full Steps or First Strike?
  11. It might wreck or separate the OMP, if you're planning on saving it might not want to do it. LOL, don't get to caught up in my hairbrained ideas, I tend to think/ponder out loud sometimes. The set isn't too much, I might just pick one up and give it a go unless someone here says don't do it. I hadn't seen this set before, I like the Dollar more than the nickel. Hmm, yep might have to pick this up.
  12. Wonder if you folded the OMP backwards so the Obv was on the inside would it tone the same as the Rev? Looks like quite a few of these have similar toning on the Rev. Looks like about a 20% chance of you coming out ahead. If money's tight probably not worth it right now. Yuk! Sell prices haven't been great recently either. PCGS MS70FS SMS labels pull higher $$$, if FS is missing lower $'s. Aren't Full Steps assumed on this coin?
  13. Good ? GF, I was wondering the same thing. I don't think so, there is a globe symbol in the upper right corner of the image in the OP. I've seen that symbol before, I think it's in one of those slab snap holders and the core doesn't look like a GSA Hard Pack either, I don't remember a ring around the coin like that. I haven't seen very many hard packs though, could be wrong.
  14. The tracking # has always been on the Shipment Summary form you are sent once the coins ship. I've always had mine shipped registered.
  15. They are graded, the coins were given an adjectival grade. In your case Gem Uncirculated, meaning that they would grade between 65-70. I wouldn't have the individual coins graded. Not sure what your end goal is but you can buy the individual coins graded MS70 ER "Emergency Production" for $70 online, it would cost you more than that to have your coins graded individually. I believe the EP info on the label would travel if you had the coins graded individually, not sure about the ER but I would think so.
  16. Mathew McConaughey transporting the Olympic torch in his Buick and reigniting a BBQ grill as he drove by. That coin would be eligible for every registry set under the sun. Might as well make it a multiple coin set.
  17. How many could you have ordered through the enrollment, 99?
  18. I think so. Easy to buy, easy to sell (in the beginning) and a whole lot of fish in the sea. That's all I have left now, graded.
  19. A product limit of 327,000+ and it sold out in a couple of hours! Wonder how many ended up in speculators hands, 80%? So glad I don't collect the ASE proofs.
  20. I'm a little surprised that 67 was assigned to the coins/roll, typically when an adjectival grade is assigned the lowest potential grade is used. In this case 65 would have been the low end of the grade range. Maybe it's different for rolls as opposed to individual coins. From NGC "*UNCIRCULATED is often paired with the additional qualifiers of BRILLIANT, CHOICE, or GEM. NGC considers BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED to be any coins that would grade from 60-70 on the Sheldon Grading Scale. CHOICE UNCIRCULATED is considered to be any coins that would grade from 63 to 70. GEM UNCIRCULATED (sometimes indicated as GEM UNC or GEM BU) is used for coins that would grade from 65 to 70." More about adjectival grading by NGC here. https://www.ngccoin.com/coin-grading/grading-scale/adjectival-grades/
  21. For all you label people out there, here's another. https://www.moderncoinmart.com/ngc-green-label/?&link=ngc-green-label&link=hpbanner Is this supposed to compete with CAC?
  22. I'm not familiar with that coin but if the condition is VF or better it seems your only option would be the Walk Through tier. Looks like the coin should be MS but don't get to hung up on that, if it's wrong NGC will correct for you (not a big deal). If you post a few pics of the coin some people could give you an opinion on the condition and thereby value.
  23. NGC only has a $20 difference between a 1957 MS66 FBL and a 1957-D MS66 FBL, unless you're piggy backing it to another submission it's probably not worth it (monetarily) to have the label corrected and the coin conserved. I tend to agree with flipping it and getting one that's correctly labeled and you can probably get a coin that you're happy with the appearance or one that you don't think needs conservation. Some people like or collect label errors, so you'll probably come out ok.
  24. This is what the DDO-001 should look like. Can you circle where you see doubling on your coin? Image from NGC VarietyPlus.
