I bought these two recently, I thought I needed a pillar type 8R, but turned out I already had one, but at least this is still a nice coin. I bought the 2-peso as I loved the obverse which is clearly unc, but the reverse got it the AU-58 grade. -

Wow, this has just been a week of sad news, so sorry to hear of Mr. Lange's passing, my sincere condolences to his family and all who were close to him. I also heard twice this week that two members of my local coin club also passed away, what a week!

Just heard about this, hope all continues to go well for her!

Well the last time this happened it seemed that all the 1952 issues depicted George VI, but all the 1953 issues depicted Elizabeth II, though I am not sure of the exact timing relative to coronation since I was not yet alive when that occurred.

I got this in the mail just today, and it's dated 2023, perhaps the RCM got a bit ahead of itself...

It may not be news which directly impacts most of us, but since her image adorned billions of coins and notes for the past 70 years, it's certainly a historic day. Charles is now King, presumably Charles III but it will likely be another year or so until his coronation and perhaps a couple years before his image graces any coins.

Yes, the 50-cent, $1, $2 and $5 coins were all silver.
