What are the odds of that?
I had 16 Lincoln Memorials that I was tracking on TeleTrade tonight and before the auction is even 4 hours old, Poof, gone and vanish go 15 of them. I know they have the right to set reserves on coins and I have no problem with that, but "Wow" what are the odds of that? In the mean time, here is a picture of a nice NGC PF69RDUC 1963 Lincoln I added recently to my registry sets. Time to go out back and enjoy the lake. As always, thanks for looking and Happy Collecting

The top is finally within reach
Hi everyone. Tonight I added 3 new additions to my 1959-Present Lincoln Memorial Business Strike Registry set and it finally puts the goal of #1 within reach. I added a 1964D MS67RD, 1982D Large Date Zinc MS68RD and a 1982D Small Date Zinc MS68RD Lincolns to my set. Thanks Mike for allowing me to add these 3 new beauties to my set. My next big purchase which if I find for the right price will be the 1983 DDR MS68RD Lincoln. With that purchase alone it would place me in the #1 position. I started this collection at the beginning of 2009 and have slowly moved forward to where I am at right now. Hopefully this week I will add a few more and if anybody has a 1983 DDR MS68RD Lincoln for sale let me know. I will add some pictures soon of my 3 latest additions. For now, I will keep my eye on the goal. As always, thanks for looking and Happy Collecting

No, Not Carly Simon's hit song 1970s Small Date Lincoln MS67RD Population of 4 or 5
Hi everyone. Yep, got the dreaded this coin is currently owned by someone else blah blah blah blah blah. I just can't help but laugh because we all experience it and we all know how frustrating it is waiting for the coin/coins to be released to you. I will give NGC credit though for sending out an email to the so called owner or they will release it to you within a certain amount of days. I have had other people try to register my coins from my sets and those emails help when you are on the other end of the situation. So I will give you a look while I wait. I had a PCGS MS66RD 1970s small date and I just bought this NGC example in MS67RD. The coin in MS66RD has a registry point value of 674 and in MS67RD the points value goes up 1649. The final price was $260 and with fees it came to $309 which is 1/3 of the NumisMedia price. Just last month a PCGS example of this coin sold last month for $1700. I will be the first one to admit this coin appears to have some toning but I think the overall strike on this coin is exceptional In the meantime whomever you are is makin' me late is keepin' me waitin'

Do You Remember Where You Were
Hi everyone. As we all know the 10th anniversary of the day that changed the world for all of us will be commemorated this Sunday. I was in traffic that day heading too the Veterans Hospital here in Tampa when our local DJ at that time (Bubba The Love Sponge) announced that a plane had hit the first of the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center. Shortly thereafter they announced that another plane had hit the second Twin Tower and a plane also hit the Pentagon and eventually the final plane had gone down near Shanksville, PA. As a soldier of 22 years who had only been out of the Army for 3 years at the time my range of emotions were off the chart. Anger, fear, sorrow and outrage were just a few. My thoughts turned too my younger brother Larry who was an Infantry Lieutenant Colonel stationed at the Army Operations Center in the Pentagon. Try as I might that day I could not get through too him. The attack was so massive and unexpected that phone systems were overwhelmed. I canceled my appointment that morning and heading home to turn on the TV to keep abreast of what was happening. Since that fateful day our world has been forever changed. My brother witnessed the attack that morning and assisted in the rescue and recovery efforts. Over 3000 lives were lost that day and the war on terrorism began. All who perished that day and all who have perished since protecting our country and freedoms will forever be my heroes. The coin shown was minted for the Army Operations Center to honor the 1st anniversary. My younger brother commanded a special detail that raise, saluted and retired approximately 2000 flags over the Pentagon on the 1st anniversary and were presented along with this coin to family members of the victims, The Secretary of the Army, senior Army officials and a few others. My younger brother presented this coin and flag to me as well as one to my brother Geoff who retired as a Colonel from the Army for Christmas 2002. The coin and flag now rest in a flag case and inside the folded flag are pieces of the Pentagon from where the plane impacted. The flag and coin rest on my desk where I see it everyday that I am home and it reminds me of that terrible day and all the lives lost. It also reminds me that we as American's will always have the resolve and determination to protect our great nation from all enemies foreign or domestic and that we will do whatever is necessary. Take time this weekend to remember and honor all those who died and all who are serving our country around the world. This coin personally to me is not my most valuable coin in monetary value but it is and forever will be my most precious and cherished. If any of wish to see the obverse of this coin PM me and I will send you a picture. Enjoy your weekend and as always, thank you for looking and Happy Collecting

    Thanks datentype
Hi everyone. I just added this very nice example of a NGC MS69RD 1992 Lincoln Memorial to my registry sets. I did have a MS68 in this slot until I was fortunate to pick up this beauty. I would like to thank datentype for having some of the most outstanding coins on Ebay for sale at reasonable prices. This coin has a NGC population of 6 with none graded higher. The overall strike and characteristics on this coin are outstanding with beautiful red copper coloring. I will be added some more soon so stop by and check them out. As always, thanks for looking and Happy Collecting

Research and Knowledge are powerful tools
Hi everyone. For those of you who follow my journals you know that I am mostly working on my Lincoln Registry sets especially my 1959-Present business strike set. Recently I added a 1985 MS69 Red Lincoln to my set. This coin has a NGC population of 6 with none graded higher. I was on Ebay last night going through the certified Lincolns that were for sell when I came across listing number 320564895317 which is for a 1985 MS68 Red Lincoln with a buy it now price of $1639.00. Yes you read that right $1639.00. That is more than 4 times what I paid for mine in the grade of MS69 and over 16 times what it list for in MS68 which is $100.00 This insufficiently_thoughtful_person claims that it is based on population pricing. I would like to know what population he is referring to because even at PCGS this coin in MS68 does not even list for that much. NumisMedia list this coin at $600 in MS69 so I wonder what the heck has this guy been smoking. Yes, it is his coin and he can ask what he wants for it, but to me it is just another example of an unscrupulous seller on Ebay trying to take advantage of uneducated buyer. I wonder how these sellers stay in business. I used to send these sellers messages asking how they base their pricing but everyone of them get all high and might and try to justify their prices. All I can say in response is You Got To Be Kidding Me. Do your research so sellers like this do not take advantage of you. As always thanks for looking and Happy Collecting

What a difference $50 can make
Hi everyone. I just added this nice example of a NGC 1985 MS69 Red Lincoln Memorial to my registry collection. I had bid on this coin about a month ago through one of the online auction houses and the coin did not sell. Last night this coin came up for auction again and I increased my max bid by $50.00 and was successful last night. It is one of 5 graded by NGC at this grade with none higher. The overall strike on this coin is outstanding with great eye appeal. Have a few more that I hope to add in the next month if all goes well. As always thank you for looking and Happy Collecting.

US Mint and Cheerios Promotion for the 2000 Lincoln Memorial Millennium realease
Hi everyone, I just recently purchased this 2000 NGC MS67RD Cheerios Promotion Lincoln Memorial to commemorate the Millennium. This promotion was put on by the US Mint and Cheerios and approximately 10 million of these pennies were placed in boxes of Cheerios cereal. To date NGC has graded only 66 in this grade with 1 graded higher. As always thanks for looking and Happy Collecting

Upgrading and filling in the blanks
Hi everyone. Just added this nice example of a NGC MS67RD 1972 Lincoln Memorial to my registry sets. With a NGC population of 15 and almost half off the list price I could not resist. Not the highest registry point value but still top grade. A lot of the Lincoln Memorials from the 70's have low registry point values which I don't understand since most of them still have low populations. Still needed it for my registry set, therefore I thought it worth the investment. I hope you enjoy my coin and as always, thanks for looking and Happy Collecting

After selling them off i will drop drastically in the points
After tomorrow, when my Ebay listing for my Red, White and Blues II, III, IV PF70 UC Presidential Dollar sets sell I will loose a whopping 44,492. What is sad about this is my entire Lincoln Penny Collection is not even worth the registry points of these dollars. I have Lincolns with a population of 1 with none graded higher that are worth a 1/3 of the registry points. If anybody is looking for a steal on 49 Proof 70 UC Presidential dollars, some Early Releases and multi coin holders, send me a message. The listing ends at 8:26am EST. Any profit will go back into my Lincoln Registry Sets. i will leave you with a picture of a modern Lincoln with a population of 1 with none graded higher worth only 288 points, my 2001D MS69RD Lincoln Memorial. As always, thanks for looking and Happy Collecting

NGC PF70 Ultra Cameo Presidential Dollars
Like my fellow collector in the previous post I have decided to sell some coins from my registry set. Whatever I do make from selling these coins will be reinvested into my Lincoln Memorial Registry Sets. So my question is, what are the PF70 UC Presidential dollars really worth? Now of course when these sets are first released people are paying a premium for them so they can be the first to add them to there registry sets. I listed all 49 coins from my Red, White and Blues II, II and IV set with the 3 from 2011 are Early Release and one of the 2007, 2008 and 2009 sets are in 4 coin multi holders.Originally I had a Buy-It-Now Price of $1100 for all 49 coins. No takers at that price. Drop the price to $850.00 and no takers. Now I have a starting price of $650.00 for all 49 coins with 5 days left and hardly anyone has even looked at them. Wow, that is a starting price of $13.26 per coin. What do I have to do, give them away? Anyone interested in these send me a message and I will send you my Ebay link. As always thanks for looking and Happy Collecting

NGC MS67RD 1998 Wide AM Lincoln Memorial
Hi everyone. My latest addition to my 1959-Present Lincoln Memorial Set is a NGC MS67RD 1998 Wide AM. The registry point value in this grade is 351 with a population of 30 with none graded higher. This same coin graded in MS69RD without the Wide AM is worth only 288 with a population of 7 with none higher. The Lincoln Memorial has a few years that they designated as Wide AM variety such as the 1992, 1998, 1999 and 2000. They call it that due to the AM in America on the reverse of the coin. As a collector I will place the higher point value in my registry set but a lot of the time I also own the coin in both grades. Hope everyone is having a great weekend and as always thanks for looking and Happy Collecting

    Getting closer ever day
Hi everyone, here is a picture of my latest addition to my 1959-Present Lincoln Memorial Registry set. About 16 more to add to this set and some upgrades to some I already have in it. The coins are out there that I need but I am trying to be patient so as not to get carried away when the goal is in sight. I hope you enjoy my latest addition and as always, thanks for looking and Happy Collecting

    Thank you Bill
Hello Collector Society. I posted my previous journal this morning thanking a fellow collector for entrusting me to purchase a large portion of his Lincoln Memorial Set. His mother called me about an hour ago to inform me that he had passed away yesterday. I knew he had been ill but this caught me completely off guard. So I would like to take this opportunity to express my sympathies for his family and friends loss and tonight Bill, as the New Year rolls in I will raise my glass to you Sir. Thank you with all my heart for allowing me to carry on your collection. In tribute Bill I have posted a picture of the nicest coin from the collection that I received from you and I hope you would be pleased. This coin currently has a NGC population of 1 so this gentleman was a dedicated collector. RIP Bill

Working on my picture taking skills
Hi everyone, I hope all of you are having a great weekend. Awhile back I posted a picture of a coin that I took with my cheap camera and some of the responses I received was that the coin was out of focus and not centered. So with much practice I think I finally have hit on the right combination. I also found that the coins that I have in the edge view holders seem to be easier to photograph. Anyways, here is a picture of my NGC 1963 Proof Red Ultra Cameo Lincoln Memorial I took today and I think it came out very nice. I hope you enjoy my coin and as always, thanks for looking and Happy Collecting.

Starting on a new registry set
Hi everyone. For those of you who follow my journals you know I concentrate mostly on Lincoln pennies. Having worked on my 1959-Date Business Strike Registry Set for the last few years I have reached a point where the last 20 something coins I need to complete this set are out there but I am having difficulty finding them at affordable prices. They are not even the most expensive. I have some feelers out and still have some money to invest from a large group of autographs I sold. Therefore, I have decided to start working on my 1959-Date Lincoln proof registry set. This coin is one of my first additions to this set. A must have for a competitive set and the price was right. Population of 32 with none graded finer by NGC. I will be adding more coins to this set soon. I hope you enjoy my coin and as always, thanks for looking and Happy Collecting

    2011D Early Release Lincoln Penny
I just added the 2011D Early Release Lincoln Penny to my registry set. I purchased this coin from a seller that sells on Ebay and advertises here on the NGC website. This seller had this coin for sell on both Ebay and his website. The coin listed on Ebay went for more than double the amount I paid from his website. This just proves once again that you should always do your research when buying coins. With the addition of this penny I have moved into 2nd place for 1959-Date Lincoln penny registry sets. I hope you enjoy my coin and always, thanks for looking and Happy Collecting

    Nice Picture
This is a nice picture of my PCGS MS66+ Double Die Obverse Lincoln Memorial that I recently added to my registry set. It is one of the better examples out there. The doubling effect really shows up nicely in this picture. I have been adding some top notch coins to this set recently which now has me in the #3 position for my 1958-Date Lincoln Memorial Set. I hope you enjoy my coin and as always, thanks for looking and Happy Collecting

Selling off my autograph collection and re-investing into coins
Hi everybody. This is my latest addition to my Lincoln Memorial registry set. PCGS population of 2 with 18 graded higher. It is a very nice addition to my collection. I recently sold a large portion of an autograph collection of mine. I had been collecting since I was a teenager and amassed quite a collection. Presidents, Vice Presidents, politicians, artist, signers of the Declaration, inventors, explorers, kings and queens, etc. I had a little bit of everything. I will be adding some more coins soon to my Lincoln Memorial sets. I hope you enjoy my coin and as always thanks for looking and Happy Collecting

Hi everyone. Here is a close up picture I just took of my latest addition to my Lincoln Memorial Registry set. NGC MS67 1968 Lincoln Memorial with a NGC population of 8 and none graded higher. Trying to fill in some of the blank spots
Hi everyone. This is a picture of my latest addition to my Lincoln Memorial Business Strike Registry Set. Population of 18. It is by far the coin with the highest point value in my set. Picked it up the other night from TeleTrade and with tax and their percentage included still came out way ahead on this one. I will be adding a few more very nice coins to this set in the next few weeks. The coin is masterfully struck and has great eye appeal. I hope you enjoy it and as always, thanks for looking and happy collection.

    Good buy from TeleTarde
I just added this Lincoln Memorial to my registry set. I bought it from last Sundays TeleTrade auction and paid $230 and after TeleTrade's fee and shipping it came out to $274.50. Not too bad for a coin with a population of 19. Just for laughs, there is a listing on Ebay right now for the same date and grade coin with a starting bid of $2995.00 and a Buy It Now price of $3295.00. Knowledge is a powerful tool when buying and selling coins. I hope everyone has a great weekend and thanks for looking and Happy Collecting.

    Don't be a chump
Hi everyone. Was looking on Ebay today trying to add some Lincolns to my registry set when I came across listing number 200331820150. It is for a 2005D NGC MS69 Red Lincoln memorial. I made an offer for $95.00 which is a little over list and was rejected. I then realized the seller was asking $995.00 for this coin. Are you #%*@^+% kidding me. I ask the seller if I had misread the list price and his response was that this is a
Business Strike coin and not a SMS coin. I am very aware of the difference. Wow, some people have a lot of nerve. This seller states he is a certified NGC dealer and ANA member. Come on, you know what this coin is worth or you should. Granted, it is your coin and you can ask what you want for it. This coin list for $69.00. It has a population report of 94. I am not an expert by any means because I have made my share of collecting mistakes over the years and it is because of sellers like this hoping to take advantage of a CHUMP. I took my share of lumps buying coins without having the proper knowledge or info. You should be ashamed of yourself. I do not know how sellers like this do it. Look for yourself and see. $69.00 coin listing for $995.00. Do I look like I was born yesterday?

Filling in the blanks and upgraded
I recently added this NGC MS65 1999 Red Wide AM Lincoln Memorial too my set. I upgraded from a PCGS MS64 Red 1999 Wide AM. There are some nicer examples out there which are harder too find so I am pleased for now. The registry point values on these Wide AM coins is very high. 1333 points in this grade. AS always, thanks for looking and Happy Collecting
