Although NGC won't recognize it.
I guess I am crying over spilt milk, but it is afterall my milk. If you look at the top sets in the Proof Ikes, you will see that the top 4 places (actually 5 spots because #4 is tied) all have PCGS coins. As a matter of fact, the top 4 consist SOLELY of coins in PCGS holders. The set just above mine only has 4 NGC coins.
The reason for this anomaly is that NGC has only graded 1 proof Ike as Proof 70, EVER... so in order to have the number 1 or 2 slot, you will most certainly have to have at least a couple of PCGS coins in that set.
The best you can hope for if you want to stay loyal to NGC is a Proof 69 Ultra Cameo STAR. These are exceedingly rare. There have only been about 31 graded as such, across the board in all 8 years COMBINED.
I have been very blessed to have garnered 2 of them. Every one of the 11 coins in my set are NGC. My set is curreently ranked number 5, however all of the sets above me have at least 2 PCGS.
So... be it known by all these present (or even if you're absent) that I claim title to the highest ranked NGC set of Proof Ikes. WooHoo!!
Personally, I think that in order to compete in the NGC registry... at least half of the coins in the set should be NGC, I mean after all, isn't this is "NGC Registry"?
I am not in a position to demand, afterall it is their show, I am just respectfully suggesting. Perhaps if we can get more members of CS to "suggest" this, it might become a reality.
