I know it is not the FUN show, and I had a limited budget of around 100 bucks ...

Mmmmmm, coin shows as a teenage dating venue?

I had talked my friend into going to the Parsipany, NJ coin show. We were to meet at the Jefferson Diner at 9AM. As Usual I got there right on time and he showed up a few minutes later. To my surprise he brought his son along, who in turn brought his girlfriend ...

Any hoo, we arrived at the coin show around 9:30 and immediately went to buy our supplies. I picked up a bunch of 2 1/2 X 2 1/2 Vinyl flips and a bunch of 2x2s for halves and he picked up a bunch of different 2x2's of different denominations to put his newly aquired coins into (at my insistance) He had been using plastic sandwich bags.

After that he and is son started looking at foreign coins. Polish and Russian coins to be exact. Of course I had to pick up the latest 2006 2ZL coins for my grandaughters (KDB) Ultimate 2006 world coin set ( am I taking this too far? ) I also picked up a few 2006 russian coins. All beautiful designs. All in all I added another 9 coins the the KDB world coin set.

Then I went to my favorite modern raw coin dealer. Everything is nicely organized by date and denomintation, so everything is easy to find. No spending HOURS looking for the dates I want.

If I was smart I would look for good buys on any date that happened to show up in high quality that day, but for me this is about finding gems to fill my typeset and mintset collections so I just look for the dates that I need for those purposes. Of course sometimes a coin just jumps out at you as was the case today. I picked up a 1976D quarter, a 1999-d SBA, and 1966 and 65 Silver Clad Halves. I also managed to pick up some coins from my "Special" Dates. 1956 and 1977 Quarters a Gem 1938 Jefferson, not full steps, but outstanding Luster and a beautiful golden color.

As always I am on the lookout for polish coins in my wife and her mothers birthyears. I managed to find a 5 Groszy in EF condition, nothing great, but at least something.

For my world birthyear set I found a Pakistan 1 Pie BU RB.

While I was looking at the foreign coins madness took over and I bought a 1920 1/12 anna in AU condition with some mint luster showing, a 1983 SouthAfrican 2 Cent BU DoubleDie, 1897,1899,1907,1911,1916,1918 Canadian Large Cents and a 1935 1d coin with what looks like a turkey on the obverse, I think it is irish since there is a harp on the reverse.

Now the hard part, figuring out which of these coins I want to send in for grading :)

I met back up with my friend and company. They seemed to be having a great time looking at all the great coins. His son bought about 20 or 30 dollars worth of coins. His girlfriend bought a gold plated statehood quarter and for 5 hours of entertainment I think I would call it a bargain too!
