Done Deal For 15 years I have been working on the sixteen coin set of New Orleans Liberty Head Half Eagles. I can recall finding each and ever coin. Today the Jazz Collection is complete and will never be upgraded. Ever coin has a story and every story is that makes this collection special to me. Want List Disappoints

You want what? For one year I have had a want list item. Each major show I would email to confirm my item and would always get a one word confirmation-OK. Well two weeks ago my coin appeared on the dealer website "on hold". When I sent an email to state that was my want list items, once again I got an Ok, meaning I guess, hopefully next time. And than there was one

One More For The Road For over twelve years I have been working on a set of New Orleans half eagles, a 16 coin set, with about 6 difficult to locate coins within the set. Most of the coins fall with the EF-40 to AU-50 range. Today I posted coin 15, a 1855 0 PCGS 50. That leaves one coin left. And then there were three My New Orleans Half Eagle collection might have hit a wall with my latest acquisition of the 1893 0. Now I have three to go: 1855 0, very difficult, 1892 0, difficult, yet not impossible, and the impossible dream " the 1847 0." I will need this coin in a VF 20 if I live long enough to find one. At Last- My Crown Jewel

Why rush- I have been collecting New Orleans gold coins for quite some time. The bulk are in the EF- 45 range for obvious reasons($$). Although my coins all have nice eye appeal, I have always wanted on special coin- very rare, in a higher grade, something special. I located an 1845 0 quarter eagle in an Au 50. It is beautiful. I did not have the funds ro purchase the coin, but I did have three really good saints from my early days of collecting. My interest is in New Orleans gold, so after

Picture info needed

Get the picture I want to take pictures of my coins and post them on this site. I have never tried this and want to give it a shot. Can any one recommend a good camera to me that is "easy" to use, will give me a nice shot of the coin and won't break the bank. Thank you David

A Possible Trade

Can't Pull the trigger yet I have located a 1856 0 $10.00 eagle in a grade 55, quite rare. Since I am not in the position to buy it outright I would be forced to trade two really good coins. The truth is my interest is in New Orleans gold, not in saints, yet I hate to get distroyed on a trade. I would have to part with a 1911(64) and a 1909(63) Can't seem to pull the trigger. Any thoughts?

Old Green Holder

I give up, I can't find the answer anywhere. So many dealer highlight their coins with great description, mintage, and how many are known to exit today. Sometimes they end their description with " and it's housed in an old green holder." This is what I can not find the answer to: When did the green holder start? When was is discontinued? With this knowledge a collector would know approximately how long the coin they are intersted in went untouched. So I give up, I can't f

New Orleans Gold

It only took two years Finally. Two years in the hunt finally paid off today with the arrival of my 1857 0 half eagle. It is graded XF 40 by PCGS. She is more beautiful than her on line picture. The surface is smooth, no hits, marks or scratches. And here is the surprise kicker for me: it came in an old green holder. Nice surprise.

CAC Certification

A money maker for who? Having two excellent grading services, NGC and PCGS, I do not see the need for CAC. A second opinion on a grade only adds to the cost of the coin(dealers seek premium) or is now costing the average collect money when you try to sell a coin that does not have the sticker. Having collected coins prior the CAC, none of my coins have the designation and the cost of trying to certify a coin is costly( shipping back and forth etc.) Seems like another way to make money.
