i have found a toned 3 cent in a bunch of coins my neighbor gave me:) it is an open 3 variety smile.gif but what could have caused the toning in btween the dirt and grime?it looks like the coin toned everywhere the metal didnt have dirt

I would say that it has been corroded for so long of time that the corrosion turned colors. Depending also on what type of corrosion it is. For instance, If it set in some soil that had alot of iron content.

so this would be a toned / coroded coin :P im not big on color but i had never seen a coin with dirt be toned smile.gif
