I don't have another Nickel piece, but here is another Silver - 1861

Know what one of nicknames of these coins was/is?

3CS were known as Fishscales. 3CN were known as Nickels for a time. Also, the trime, I believe, was really meant for the 3CS not the 3CN (someone correct me on this if I'm wrong).

fish scales and trimes thses terms only for silver three centers

nickname as the trimes were so small and light weight that they weighed as much as a scale of a fish (and about the same size too) 893whatthe.gif

hence the term fish scales

Trimes were actually used by the Mint staff (director) and not so much by the public. That name didn't really catch on by collectors until relatively recently.

Anyone want to guess what "shinplasters" were and what relation they had with 3-cent coins and their mintages?

Recently posted, but here it is again. The consensus was the damage is likely a planchet flaw.
