IMHO it is a fake since they didn't produce them until 1873. The metal doesn't appear to be silver either.

Does it have value? Yes. Is it real? I would not bet on it. There is alot things I do not like about this coin. Just my thoughts.

Well, since it's couterfeit then the only value would be either as a novelty (perhaps $1 or so) or for whatever silver that it is made of (likely not much).

That Trade Dollar is a very nice example of what active corrosion looks like underneath a plated metal. The active corrosion products are releasing the surface bonded plating from the base metal and it is erupting through to the surface.
