Toned Commeratives - Show 'Em Off

Matt,

That is a cool Bridgeport. The Bridgeport is one of the early commem issues that are not commonly found with pleasing toning. Yours is a nice looking piece. thumbsup2.gif

John, thanks for the compliment. I hope this thread keeps going for a while as the commem post are my favorite reading. (er, well, mostly I just look at the pictures! blush.gif) Speaking of which, there is a certain hail.gif Norfolk in your collection that should definitely be here. (Another nice sea journey to soothe the soul...)

Edited to say: Drat, I had the thread open so long looking at everybodies galleries that I forgot your Norfolk was already on page two with the Delaware on three. Fabulous coin though.

I have never really paid much attention to the Commemoratives but I must say that after seeing the coins on this thread, I am impressed. These are coins that are very interesting to look at and have caused me to learn some history I either forgot or did not know much about.

Great Coins thumbsup2.gif

Thanks,

Rey

Matt, Irvin & Bobby,

Thanks for the comments about my coins. Here is one I really need to get a better image of, but I think you can get an idea of what it must look like in person.

John - you have some VERY NICE Comms - If you put that Oregon in an Album for another 10 years, it may be worth $69K cool.gif (At our inaugeral TCCS meeting Dave Schweicz gave me about 8 of his drop dead gorgeous toned comms to "Show Off" - I needed a body guard to take them back to him - so Greg Bingham escorted me back to his table)

I've never collected comms - and the only nice one I've ever owned is at the top of this post - but I'm very impressed with the many nice coins posted here.

Greg,

Very nice Rhode Island! thumbsup2.gif

Ironically, I just won a ’36s today in the Heritage auction that I think is nice. I’m looking forward to getting it and taking my own photos of it.

Ron,

Thanks for the compliments on my coins. TomB has seen many of my coins in person and has commented that he thought my set would make a great display at one of the ANA shows. Who knows, maybe someday once the set is complete. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Thanks Mike!

I was quite happy to find this coin. The thing I like the most about this coin is that it actually has full luster. This luster added with the touch of color that the coin has makes for an uncommonly nice Lafayette. smile.gif

When you get ready to do your display, give me a call - I've done a couple and they even gave me a few ribbons - what they didn't know is that the first time I displayed any of my coins - that Pattern set in my pattern thread - I had NO clue what I was doing confused.gif - I just thought people would like to see a complete 12 piece Pattern set of the 1858 FE & IHCs - I even threw in a few "extras" just for the fun of it - Now I'm "dangerous" - I know a little something about doing an Exhibit wink.gif
