Dark Gold Color -Washinton Dollar Coin

I need guidance - I have opened many Washington Dollars and have found errors. However of the good coins that were stored on my shielf (approx 2000) I see some coins that have turned a dark Gold in color. Not like the shinny color of the rest. What happened??? Can anyone provide some info? The dark gold color is on both sides and the rim too.

The darker color coins are only 10 in number. The rest are as they were opened.

This is probably the same thing that happens to the Sacs. They develop a film, some call it hazing, or whatever. this sounds like what's happening to yours.

If these coins are in a roll this is a common toning for these coins.
