Looking for a Clue... 1989 Washington Inaugural 2 oz Silver Round

4 posts in this topic

Tried digging up info on this thing, a lady at church dropped it in my lap this am and wondered if it was worth anything (besides melt...)

Search of eBay and Google was fruitless... which is unusual...

1989 George Washington Inaugural Bicentennial 2 oz .999 Silver Round Cameo Proof, +/- 41mm across

Reeded Edge about 320 degrees around, with a smooth spot at the 6 o'clock position which is stamped with a serial number (on this one -- #00380) Also came with a Certificate of Authenticity which would probably give me further info, but she forgot it this morning.

So, US Mint? Franklin Mint?

Quick pics, excuse the quality...

Take a peek:

People might not even be willing to pay melt for it. This one sold for $15.96 on eBay on Jan 10, 2007. Shipping was $4.05 for a total of $20.01 and yes that was also two ounces of silver.

There are a lot of random people commemorative silver rounds so an unattributed one probably isn't going to generate much interest.

Also a couiple other places to check would be National Collectors Mint & Morgan Mint. They do alot of silver bullion rounds.
