Carbon Spots on a Morgan

5 posts in this topic

Are there any safe ways to remove carbon spots without damaging the coin?

I believe the coin would grade between MS 64-MS65, and was just wondering if the carbon spot would change (specifically lower) the grade at all.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure that it's a carbon spot because it is dark brown in the very center and becomes progressingly lighter as it moves outward. It is fairly big and kind of distracting. I will post a picture of it when I get a minute.

You may try to post the to NCS also. My experience with carbon is you wind up dipping the life out of a coin before you fade it. You may try a cotton swap and some good jewelry cleaned and just concentrate on the spot itself. confused-smiley-013.gif

I don't want to give you info that I don't have alot of experience with and you hurt your coin. Might be best to wait for other help here.
