Just knew it was bound to happen. Wonder how many other pending sales will be cancelled as of today?

So, what changed to bring about a tripling of the price? Probably all of the emails and newspaper articles that are hyping it as an "atheist" dollar.

I agree. My guess is a lot of people buying at these higher prices aren't regular coin collectors. The press coverage has just increased demand a lot.

Agree with all above. They have been on the news last night and today and people are trying to get in on the action. I really think this will settle soon. The smooth edges will still be valueable, but I don't think as much after all are put out into the open. They are the major error, but I think the one error has actually gotten more people interested in them.

At least you're getting your money back. Think about the people who lose $2000 or more on a scam. At $2000, you can buy a few at the going prices.

Even sovereign governments have reneged on their contractual obligations when it was against their financial interests. There's that lovely Canadian gold coin with the US$300 exchange guarantee printed right on the coin that they canceled when gold prices fell.

He also spelled ROLL as ROOL in all his titles... what a Moe - Ron. The more I look at his listings, the more I think someone's 14 year old has gotten ahold of a parent's eBay account

I'm betting he is trying to stop the bidding because he decided to crack them open and see for himself if they were missing the edgework, or he got nervous about them still sitting at $10 below "cost" with only a day to go... who knows, but it is in VERY poor form either way. When you click on that confirm listing button, you need to be sure you have your ducks in a row.

...and he seems to be such a selling neophyte that he doesn't know how to cancel an auction... only takes about 30 seconds and 3 clicks... even if you already have bids.

Yeah, what he is doing is wrong, but your title is wrong. You weren't scammed if he didn't take your money and you still have it.

I'm in total disagreement. It was not me that was scammed; however if I have a certain amount to spend, bid on your listing, ignore another and they both end, then you decide to pull out, yes, I got scammed. I could have purchased the other one. Yes, I still have my money. Yes, I got scammed into thinking this was a legitimate offer. makepoint.gif
