QUESTION:

 

Who was the first Treasurer of the United States to have their name changed on currency while in office? Good Luck!

Dorothy Andrews Elston Kabis married while in office causing the series change from 1969 to 1969A in 1970. This change was only to the $1 FRN. Elston-Kabis served during Nixon's first term.

When Dorothy Andrews Elston married Walter Kabis she changed her name to Dorothy

Andrews Kabis, this was september 17, 1970 making her the first treasurer to

change names while in office. The new name is Dorothy Andrews Kabis.
