State Quarter Proofs - How do you tell if they are silver or not?

For the state quarter series that comes in clad proofs as well as silver proofs, is there any way to distinguish between the two, short of taking them out of the holder and looking at the rim? Can you tell just by looking at them? I only have some silver proofs so don't have anything to compare against.

If they are in the Mint holder, the inserts for the clad proofs are blue and the inserts for the silver proofs are red.

If you get a set of both, you should be able to tell the difference just by looking at them. They look different.
