Collectors Society Survey: What three things would you change...

34 posts in this topic

....about the registry, the CS websites & boards?

I just completed the survey that Scott Schechter e-mailed out. One of the questions was:

What three new features or improvements would you like to see on the Registry, the Message Boards, or the Collectors' Society Web site? (please list in order of importance)

Just off the top of my head,

1.An easy way to check the status of submissions and certification number lookup.

2.The search function on the message boards is very hard to use and is often too specific or useless.

3.The registry could be easier to navigate and it could also be easier to find yours and others sets by search.

What recomendations did you all put down? 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

ROFL , Happy Birthday Cookie Monster !

I added three , but one was : add in a link for a moderated live chat room forum that we could use for 'real-time' catching up and discussions outside of the postings .

I just finished mine. My 3 reccomendations were:

1) More accurate Registry scores.

2) More ease of use on the Collector's Society website.

3) Less surveys.

1. Take more than 10 seconds to grade a coin.

2. Give the graders a refresher in artificial toning.

3. Follow NGC's guidelines on artificial toning.

I posted my idea in a thread last week. I think being as though there are a few catagories that have been locked by the same individuals for years, they should award second and third place positions.

This is not to take away from the people that have these positions locked up, but just give someone else a chance.

Actually, an even better way would be if someone held the #1 rank for say three years running, retire that set in the "all time greatest" and this would allow someone else to take the #1 spot.

3. Follow NGC's guidelines on artificial toning.

But then how would you collect coins that look like these:

Oh, never mind, those are "natural" and not the result of MS70 or ammonia. Sorry.

Didn't this happen to Hoot's set?

I like ammonia.

Besides, when they stop grading all these monstrosities they will garner an even higher premium just like the Peacock Ikes and App Hoard Nickels. wink.gif

The one thing I would be sure to change is the PM System. I like the way PCGS has thiers setup. Every PM excahnged between 2 people goes into one box. So if I get 50 PM's from one person they are all in the same place.

Below is how I answered the survey questions (I really wouldn't mind owning an iPod!). I think the fact that NGC is at least conducting a survey shows that they may actually care, but the question is whether or not these surveys will actually have any impact.

I bolded my three suggestions for changes below.

It's very slow for me, too, unless I'm not logged in, in which case it's is actually very fast. I always assumed it had something to do with whatever it is that makes the new thread and post counts appear, and all of one's preferences, etc. All those cookies and what-have-you. Is that possible?
