Cleaned Morgan

4 posts in this topic

I came across an 1880 S Morgan. It had been cleaned prior to my obtaining it, I

would say about 6 months. I knew it was cleaned, but I got it for almost nothing.

I am wondering if it is worth anything, and since it has been cleaned can it be sent in and graded? I am a newbie to coin collecting. confused.gif

NGC, PCGS, ICG will not grade cleaned coins. ANACS, SEGS, & PCI will.

1880-S Morgans are extremely common even in high grades. If you got the coin for practically nothing, that is probably because it is worth that much. Grading costs $10 on up plus shipping. A coin like this wouldn't be worth submitting.
