US coin or Philippines??

5 posts in this topic

Hi I work at a grocery store and had a customer give me a coin today and I ended up trading in a regular coin for it. I was wondering if anyone could help me with it. It's a 5 cent piece and on one side it has a man sitting on a rock with a hammer in his hand and a volcano in the back ground. the writting says "five centavos" & "filipinas". and on the other side it has an egale and a flag as well as the words " united states of america". the coin is from 1917 and it looks like it has a little symbol by the date. I was wondering where this coin was used and where it was made. thanks for any help
