Do submitters have the option of crossing only at a higher grade?

Can a submitter specify a minimum crossing grade that is higher than the current slab's grade?

The answer is no. However, you can request certain qualifiers, like cross only if it will get the * designation.

My understanding is that the answer to your qeuestion is "no."

You can request a minimum LOWER grade but not a minimum higher grade.

I wish they would change this and allow you to request a higher grade (maybe limit it to 1 grade point). I'd even be willing to pay a SLIGHTLY higher fee for it.

 

Some coins I'd prefer to still have in their PCGS slab if they were going to grade the same at NGC. Some because they are worth slightly more in a PCGS slab and others because they were already photographed in the other slab and now I have to do it again.
