1786-B Hungary "Madonna" Taler

4 posts in this topic

Not a Long Beach purchase, but a NYINC purchase that I just got back from NGC:

A 1786-B Hungary taler. The obverse features flying angels holding the crown above the coat of arms. The reverse features the very popular Madonna and child design. The luster is exceptional and the surfaces are semi-prooflike (these can be found prooflike) and the reverse features some unfortunate adjustment marks thru Madonna & child.

Great devices on that coin. Are the letters somewhat recut? - I can't seem to make out the extra bumps around the lettering.
