Holograms

Why are the holograms on the outside of the slab? They seem to get frequently torn off or damaged any time a dealer puts a sticker on the slab.

 

Are there any plans to moving it inside the slab?

Greg,

 

NGC has looked at this option, but due to asthetic reasons and especially because of technical, production related issues, the hologram is placed on the outside of the holder. We continue to look for ways to eliminate the chance for damage to the hologram and are working with our production company to see if there is a way that this hologram could be placed on the interior without sacrificing asthetics or production.

 

Lastly, you will notice that the hologram on the newer holders tends to be more resistant to peeling and removal than the original holograms. While this doesn't prevent scratching of the hologram, NGC does offer an inexpensive reholdering service for those few pieces where this is a concern.
