Is NGC Considering going to the 100 Grading Scale?

4 posts in this topic

The big topic over at the PCGS chat board is the proposal to go to a 100 grading scale. Is NGC conconsidering this?

Before you answer, I'll tell you that I am strongly opposed to it. If you want to why, send me an email.

Could it be that PCGS is getting so many crappy submissions and by expanding the scale, they can make them appear to look better? I would think that expanding the scale would enable coins that were, formerly, on the bottom of one category to, now, become higher grades in a new category.

If it is nearly impossible to distinguish between an MS69 and an MS70, why would we ever need additional classifications?

By the way, does anyone have an example of an XF46 or XF47 or an AU56 or AU57? I don't think I've ever seen one posted on the boards.
