1983 D Lincoln Cent

What a cheerful opening!

I second the opinion given of a linear plating bubble. These linear plating bubbles can be found anywhere on these copper-plated zinc cents, obverse or reverse. Some have been known to bisect the entire coin. Some examples have multiple linear plating bubbles. This is not an issue with the die but with the adhesion of the copper plating to the zinc core. The Mint had issues with the plating on these zinc cents over the course of decades and while they have gotten a better handle on it nowadays, you can still find the occasional cent with a plating bubble or plating issue.

Not a die problem, just poor quality control.
