Planchet or some other error on Penny? 1 1

Any ideas about this Lincoln Cent?  I have never seen a penny like this.  Does anyone know what created the look of this penny?

Welcome,  That is a good example of a dryer coin, any coin showing excessive surface loss like this we call a dryer coin.

We have seen quite a few of these on this forum. Just damage from
tumbling around the inner workings of a dryer. Keep as a novelty or spend.

You may want to reconsider this. Being the zinc core of this cent is now fully exposed to the environment without the copper plating to protect it, the zinc is highly reactive to the environment, and this coin even sitting in a drawer if exposed to humidity in the air will quickly develop zinc rot which will spread quickly and literally eat the coin away. We typically advise to spend coins such as this as soon as possible and while you are still able to.
