Tmoney11
Looking for opinions on issue with this Jefferson Nickel. Just worn and bad shape? Or minting process?
The Neophyte Numismatist
Both. Your coin is worn, and not in the best shape. Your coin also appears to exhibit some mechanical doubling (a form or "worthless doubling" and is not a doubled die). Here is a link to Wexler's if you are inclined to study it to tell the difference for yourself: https://doubleddie.com/144822.html#:~:text=Unlike genuine doubled dies for,the coin is being struck. Forum - if you agree with my answer, simply "like" the response as opposed to continuously repeating responses and bumping the thread. I will try to do the same. Popular Post Greenstang
Aside from Mechanical Doubling, it also suffers from Die Deterioration caused by a worn die. The Neophyte Numismatist, Tmoney11 and Sandon 2
powermad5000
Looks like Die Deterioration doubling to me. You can see the metal flow lines towards the rim which is a good indication that the coin was struck with worn out dies. Also it has some pretty good circulation issues.
