1957 D Penny Error ?

Die chips of this sort are abundantly common on cents and other U.S. coins of this era. Decades ago, there was a fad of collecting the "BIE" cents, but today they carry little or no premium and are not attributed by grading services. See the following topic, one of whose featured coins also has a chip in the date similar to yours:

Die chips are not considered errors. I have a 1955 S Lincoln Wheat Cent with a filled 5 and submitted it but it returned sans error and unfortunately also scratched.
