That is some NASTY strike doubling, but there IS NO doubled die 1963 proof quarter in the literature. That is how this works. A doubled die would have been discovered in 61 years. “Discovery coins” almost never are real. BTW, the corrosion on that coin is also nasty.

Thanks I thought it was dust   It looks like  silver 1943 quarter DDO   I will send it in to conservation  thanks  to clean it up and I let you know the results

    I agree that based on the photos the doubling on this coin is flat, shelf-like strike doubling. Wexler and Variety Vista both list several minor DDOs for proof 1963 quarters, but none is a match for this one. But NGC recognizes none of them. And to me, Wexler is NOT a reliable source. I realize that many disagree, but I have decided for myself.

All the photos show the same thing, common worthless strike doubling.   If you like it keep it, but it's not valuable and not worth sending to NGC.
