[Cary Coins]

I inherited hundreds of Wheat Pennies from my Grandmother.  Was happy to discover among them 5 1943 Steel Pennies.  At first I thought this one was an error coin.  However, upon doing further research I think its more likely a mutilated coin.  Appreciate any feedback on that.

Correction: 1943 Steel Penny

It is damage, there is no way that could happen during the striking of the coin at the mint.

   It appears that someone took a large pair of sheers or other tool and tried to cut this coin in two.

This coin has physical damage. There is nothing in or around the press that is a straight line that would clamp onto both sides of the coin during the strike.

I think you meant shears. Sheers would be a window treatment or a sudden swerve.

Just some damage. It looks cool though. I would keep it, but it will never be worth more than 1 cent until the twenty-second century.
