tj96
Could someone tell me why this variety wouldn't be list in VP? Edited August 10 by tj96
Popular Post Sandon
You might post this same question on the "Ask NGC/NCS" forum. Presumably, NGC doesn't find this variety to be popular or interesting enough to include in "VarietyPlus". NGC policy also states that "[w]ith few exceptions, NGC will not attribute die varieties that require greater than 5x magnification to be clearly recognizable." What is a Variety? | NGC (ngccoin.com) This level of magnification is too low, in my opinion. ANACS is the most "variety friendly" grading service. As I understand it, ANACS will attribute all varieties recognized in the Cherrypickers' Guide, all VAM dollar varieties, and other recognized varieties. zadok, Coinbuf and Hoghead515
Popular Post Coinbuf
I think @Sandon nailed it, NGC considers this to be too minor to list and attribute. Hoghead515, tj96 and zadok

ANACS is the most "variety friendly" grading service.... Regarding low magnification, I agree. How difficult could it possibly be to put down, for one moment, a toy magnifying glass and pick up a stronger loupe for closer inspection. A variety does not cease to exist because one is ill-equipped to detect it. As regarding, the latter comment, your observation, and writings generally, reflect a breathtaking breadth of numismatic knowledge and experience. To the OP: Nice catch! If you have not considered annotating your submission form to direct the graders' attentions to a feature that may be overlooked during cursory examinations, nothing in the instructions prohibits you from doing so. tj96
