Administrator KaileeS CS Posted August 11 Administrator Share Posted August 11 Hello @ChWitt, thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately, we are not able to identify varieties on coins via photos. An in-hand evaluation by the grading team would be required to determine if the coin has a variety or a mint error. However, you may visit our VarietyPlus | NGC page to review the varieties we designate and to see photos of those varieties. If you'd like to submit your coin to determine if it may have a variety, you can read more about the process here: NGC Coins | How to submit. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Thank you!
Sandon
In the future, please post questions of this nature on the "Newbie Coin Collecting Questions" forum. The lettering on the motto of your 2005-D cent appears slightly thickened, but this may be the result of a weak strike or "grease" on the die. There is similar weakness at the top of Lincoln's head. If it is a doubled die, it is a very minor one. As it isn't listed on VarietyPlus, NGC wouldn't attribute it. You might check doubleddie.com to see if there are any 2005-D Lincoln cent DDOs that match.
