BryanMC39
1981 D Washington Quarter, there's a mix of mint damage and possible after mint damages as well but it quite a bit and I don't know what is what I. Going to try to add pictures to best show it, unfortunately this is my best camera and micro lens. Sorry about the clarity, but it's the best I have. ldhair
I believe it is all circulation damage and not mint damage. Sandon
Greenstang
Welcome to the Forum. There is nothing on that coin that can’t be attributed to circulation damage. It is only an error if it happens during the actual striking of the coin. Sandon
BryanMC39
Okay, thanks, I just thought since I could see that the outer coating doesn't look damaged in the obverse and folds down into the reverse holes the weired planchette pushed in areas and along the sides, that it was mint. But that's why I'm asking, because I'm wrong quite allot! So thank you again!, But what about what looks like a strike through in the center of Washington's face? Is that what it looks like or is it a laminating error? Feeder fingers? Or just circulating damage?

Coinbuf
Everything you see on your quarter is damage after it left the mint. Sandon
powermad5000
A very well circulated, badly damaged quarter.
Lem E
Anyone else thinking heat damage? These areas look slightly bubbled to me. Could just be light reflection but it looks like this could have been in a fire.
powermad5000
I don't know about fire, but maybe some tiny rocks underneath it and it got ran over in a parking lot a few times. That coin has had a rough life.
