Liam ll
Does anyone have information about the characters stamped on the backside of this 34th year of the dragon counterfeit? Assuming its a counterfeit in part due to the stamp of Chinese characters.
Liam ll
May have found my own answer...Such marks are called chop marks, its a manner in which Chinese merchants put a personal stamp on a coin to verify its authenticity. However this equates to post mint "damage" and devalue the coin even if proved to be authentic. if that in fact is what this is on this coin... Quintus Arrius
Members, at one time or another, somewhere, elsewhere, have previously pointed out chopmarks come with the territory on coins such as the old U.S. Trade Dollar and do not devalue them in any way.
